If we got Miller McGinn would definatly be gonezo. Probably Blueger too...
We know that they like teddy. If not for the lack of production I would like Teddy also. Hasn't been the same since his injury last year. Although the last couple games he's doing a bit better.

Vancouver sigining Miller to a 7 year extension in summer of 2022 and then having to trade him with retention during the season - before the contract even kicks in - would be absurd. Needless to say, I'm here for it!
Unless they signed him to get a bigger Haul knowing he signed long-term. Also, maybe they didn't realize how far they are from being a legitimate contender and decided to punt on the matter and sell pieces off. Like bo horvat.

I could see Miller and Schenn being targets. Again not what I would prefer but this wouldn't surprise me.

Just want to say again, I'd be shocked if there wasn't something pretty big in the offering for the Pittsburgh penguins. I just don't know if it's necessarily the right thing.

Why would Coyotes want Guentzel?

Also if Arizona is sending us Vejmelka AND Chychrun sign me up for the f*** our 2025 and 2026 picks team.
Plus, Guentzel has a 12-team no-trade clause.

Guessing the worst franchise in the league is probably on that list.

I don't think that's enough to get them to retain salary for 7 full seasons. If they're trading Miller for cap space, I don't see them retaining salary, especially with the specter of a flat cap looming.
Oh, I don't know if they'd be open to retaining, if they did it would probably be minimal.

Miller for free/5th pick/whatever is actually creative and makes sense for both sides.

Paying for Miller (even if there’s retention) would bewilder me. Plus If I’m the Canucks I’d rather just wash my hands instead of retaining money for 7 years for a later 1st.

No to Miller. So many parts to consider here. Is Jarry capable of being that guy? Is adding Chychrun gong to change the Pens enough to beat the better teams in the est, I think not. Is Sully so inflexible that Hextall is just unable to impact the product on the ice. Is the value of the real estate just such a priority that the hockey team was a throw in. Mario got paid and knew FSG would pay for that location, location, location. Three year plan has to be the way to go so is there a choice.

Makes sense for us to keep our prospects who are NHL ready and move picks or 2022 draft picks. Guys like Smith, Hallander, etc, will get their shot next year and will count cheap toward the cap.

I can't imagine why VAN would be willing to retain any meaningful amount of that contract for that length of time. A lot can change with a franchise in 7yrs.

Vancouver clutching on to JT Miller like grim death last season, to the point that they signed him to an extension, only to trade him before said extension even kicks in would be some truly goldfish-brained shit.

So long as it's not the Penguins on the other end I'm here for it.
