Makes sense for us to keep our prospects who are NHL ready and move picks or 2022 draft picks. Guys like Smith, Hallander, etc, will get their shot next year and will count cheap toward the cap.
Sleepy will sign more turd vets this summer. Hextall has done nothing but try to block young players for 2 years.

If I'm Vancouver, unless I get that Jeannot or Meier level haul, I think I kept JT Miller. He's easily a guy that can rebound. He's having a "down" year and is nearly a PPG player while being the proto-type power forward the league lusts after.

If anything, I think Boeser would be on our radar more than Miller but who knows.

If I’m Vancouver and someone is willing to take that Miller contract off my hands I take it and run.

I wipe my hands ASAP. Use the 8M of space I just created next year to take on cap and get more assets that line up with my teams timeline.

Sweating getting that done.

I think Zona want that return for Chychrun alone.

More likely Blueger instead of Carter, Carter stays on 3C and Miller is tried with Sid and or Geno. That seems like a lot of moves and planning for Hextall to execute on, but man would it be awesome.

You don't need to trade Zucker to be able to afford Miller this year. Running with a 22 man roster and trading McGinn for Miller has you cap compliant, albeit barely ($33k under the cap). You would be running with this forward group:

Guentzel-Crosby-Rakell
Miller-Malkin-Rust
Zucker-Carter-Heinen
O'Connor-Blueger-Archibald
Poehling

I think McGinn and futures for Miller is the trade Hextall should be targeting if he's going after Miller. The Penguins will basically have a clean slate in their bottom-6 for next year with doing that, with only Carter being under contract in the bottom-6. They'll have like $17 million in cap space to get a starting goalie, re-sign Smith and fill out their bottom-6.

A JT Miller attached in some way to the top six full time and getting top powerplay time is something I could deal with.

Anything less and you are not taking full advantage of the player or maximizing the massive contract you just took on.

I feel like we have this discussion every so often...

Zucker has a 10-team no-trade clause that includes every Canadian team because of family reasons.

And as stated earlier, Guentzel has a 12-team no-trade list that I guarantee you includes Arizona.

Neither player is going to waive for those particular destinations.
