I think the issue is that past performances on other teams aren't necessarily indicative of future performances on a new team. Did Granlund become bad this year, or has he just been performing badly this year?

I think you need to look at both past results (both this year and past years) along with skillsets to gather an opinion on acquiring a player. That's why I'm more positive on Granlund the player than most here, he has a skillset that I'm a big fan of and have been interested in the past. I just don't want to pay him $5 million for that. Get it down to $3.5 million and I have no complaints with this deal, because I think the upside of his skills in this system (with proper usage) is worth that price.

Its the total cap hit that's a problem with me.

Trade Washington Rust and a pick for Tom Wilson

Guentzel-Crosby-Wilson
Zucker-Malkin-Granlund
Heinen-Carter (fml)-Rakell
DOC-Poehling-Archibald

Yes I know Wash isn’t doing that and Kennedy is being a bastard

Yeah this trade will very likely not go well because Sullivan won't use Granlund in a way to make the trade go well. But make the 2nd line Zucker-Malkin-Granlund and I think adding Granlund would be nice. Just not at $5 million nice.
I don’t want Geno with another player who doesn’t play defense AND can’t get the puck in the net worth shit…he needs to play on L3

That lineup is still ass.

What if Hextall is a Bernie Madoff level sociopath? All of his moves are just to inflict pain on Pens fans. Can’t tell the difference. You know, that’s not fair—he could just be a dumbass.

I know someone else said it earlier, but i'm gonna echo it:

if you're not 100% sold on Hextall going forward (and all indications are that management isn't), this seems like a trade deadline he needed to not ... be able to run? This is like boomers voting to turn on some coal plants built 100 years ago cuz they won't have to deal with the mess.

I'm going to laugh when Hextall gets fired and he takes a position as Emperor of the Philadelphia Flyers....

The only saving grace here is that Hextall only paid a 2nd for him and I imagine the Penguins can move Granlund in the future as long as he's healthy and producing well. But yeah, really baffling decision to bring him on at his full salary.

IC, who runs it though? Burke? I don't think it's better with him in charge
