I'm assuming Granlund plays in the bottom six? It's great that he can pass, but who exactly is he going to pass to? Jeff Carter?

This trade was trash and the opposite of what the pens needed. They actually go older today.

You cant defend this

Or maybe people can actually watch these players and come to their own opinions on this player?

I've liked Granlund for years. Hell, this entire place spent years advocating for Granlund like they did for Kulemin. His skillset is really intriguing, and they didn't really give up all that much for him. He's having a bad year this year, but I think the skillset from him makes me think it's a worthwhile gamble. The problem is that he has a $5 million cap hit.

Get it down to $3.5 million and I'm totally happy with the acquisition.

Nah, I get what Emp's doing. He's trying to remain calm and level-headed and sort out why the f*** the team would do this. They just don't deserve that much credit.

No, I have legitimately liked Granlund in the past. The only part of this deal that I don't like is the fact that they didn't get any retention on Granlund. I wouldn't have traded for Granlund without any retention.

I think this trade sucks now that it has come out that Nashville didn't retain, but if they got Granlund down to $3 million or $3.5 million, I'd be happy with it.

To be fair Carter has scored an ass load of goals in the playoffs for us.

But yes that's the plan LOL

Nashville is over the moon he is gone and they are out of his contract. He is a small floater who make this team even older.

Who is Granland gona play with? Carter? Heinen? McGinn?

Because he clearly wasn't working there and wasn't worth $5 million going forward.

Granlund should be playing with Malkin and Zucker and Rust should get demoted to L3. That's the best way to set up the forward group.

Nah Hextall has no idea what he is doing. The problem is that this is EXACTLY the type of trade he would make. Its not hard to see it.
In fairness to Hextall, this is the first deadline move of his I have disliked. His off-season deals and signings/re-signings have been dogshit.

This move seems really shit to me. I don't know, maybe I'm just annoyed because this team's doing that bullshit "stay in the middle" purgatory garbage I've been bitching about for a couple years.

Hockey is random. Maybe it'll work out.

It looks terrible. Just awful.

Tbf I think he only goes half in and I hate it. He should have picked up another dmen last year. He grabs one player for a 2nd and is like im good. It reeks of I did something back to bed.
