Depth Chart says Paul Stastny and Jack Drury. He has 2 assists in 17 games.

He isn't a good hockey player and just because he was drafted high does not mean he has some untapped potential. I would be very surprised if he is in the NHL next season.

One thing to keep in mind is Gaudreau put it together in Minnesota because he was also given the opportunity to do so. He had over 50% offensive zone starts in Minny. Him (or any other player in the bottom six here) would have to "break out" while getting about 25 to 30% offensive zone starts because of how stubbornly idiotic Sullivan deploys his bottom six.

That's why I'm skeptical of DOC or a guy like Puljujarvi having a breakout season here as long as Sullivan is around. They simply won't be put in a position to do so.
He also got those minutes because Minnesota lacked center depth the past two seasons. Only Joel Erikson Ek has taken more faceoffs on the Wild over the last two years, with Hartman third behind Gaudreau.

That just wouldn't have been the case with the Penguins. Crosby and Malkin are going to get the bulk of offensive faceoffs because they should. They're future Hall of Famers. The Penguins need guys comfortable playing other roles.

Puljujarvi is the right idea of signing someone with untapped potential, but I think the ship has definitely sailed with him ever finding it in the NHL. I'd pass.

I'd like to see us target Domi and Wood to boost our bottom 6. Then Graves and maybe Gavrikov or Soucy for defense. I think you could get some pretty good bang for your puck with them.

I wonder if we're all gonna be sitting here in like 8 years talking about Slafkovsky's untapped potential a la Puljujarvi. Still obviously way too early to say, but I got a gut feeling they might end up having similar careers.

Someday maybe Sam Poulin can be our very own Puljujarvi!
Doesn't it give you all warm and fuzzies knowing that our best forward prospect might, if all things work out perfectly, turn into a solid 4th liner for us?

Screw offensive upside, we need as many guys who can replace the McGinns/ZARs/Archibalds/Bluegers of the world as possible.

Poulin was one of the more offensively talented guys in his range.

The issue with Poulin was never his offensive abilities.

I hate buying out Granlund less than I hate paying a 2nd to get out of his deal, but I still think buying out Granlund is a horrendously bad idea.

I don't see any reason you shouldn't be able to trade him.
Who would want him? It’s widely known throughout the league Hextall made a bad trade. Nobody else would’ve made that deal. They sure aren’t going to make it now either.

New GM and front office support will have fresh eyes on who can do what. I do think DOC, Nylander, Poehling, Smith, Poulin, POJ, can have a place to be NHL and improve with PT, strength and conditioning and coaching.

Ok wtf is going on? Why do my screen borders keep turning blue, moving towards the middle with #workatva at the top?
Who's in charge of this joint?
If that keeps up, I'm never coming back lol.

Rutta is a good third pair D man who has a decent contract. Plus he will partner with POJ or Smith a bring them needed experience as well. He has size and can add needed positional defense to the Pens right side. But Pens need to get younger on the right side back end a move Petry for a nice pick works for both cap space and bringing in a younger fit for the second pairing. Trade with that capital for a younger D man as cant have 3 over 35 D men thinking they can stay healthy.

Granlund to team A at 50% and Granlund to team B at 50%.

Shoulda been this way to the Pens. THANKS HEXTALL!!!
If ownership knew that they were moving on from the FO, why did they OK that trade??? Which is exactly why I have little hope for the immediate future. And I'm defining immediate the next years.
