Hall and Ullmark or Hall and Swayman would be nice but I'm not sure I see the Bruins trading such players to us. Or it might cost us more than a Western team would pay if we want to get them.

Most Western teams that are contenders can’t afford the hit and Hall has a 16 team NTC.

I think Seattle, Winnipeg, and Colorado probably could. I think Winnipeg and Colorado could really like the idea. Not a long list though.

Winnipeg being off Hall’s trade list is hilarious, @Peat.

Colorado has 5 forwards signed and needs to pay Byram.

Seattle seems like a team that’d do that.

That's true, but if any Western team is able to work out a deal we may get screwed there.

Worth exploring for sure. Would love to have Hall/Ullmark or Hall/Swayman.

I don’t see Swayman or Ullmark being moved in the East. I think if a player like Hall is available and choosing his destiny, we could easily scoop that though.

As a big Kraken fan, I don't think Hall would make much sense for the Kraken. The Kraken have an absolutely filthy F group going into next year:

McCann-Beniers-Eberle
Schwartz-Gourde-Burakovsky
Tolvanen-Wennberg-Bjorkstrand
Tanev-Geekie-Sprong
Kartye

I don't think they keep Sprong and promote Kartye onto the 4th line to replace him, but the concept still stands. They really need a Soucy replacement (or just keep Soucy), and honestly I think they probably should upgrade on Borgen as well. Plus they'll need a new 1A goalie to platoon with Grubauer.

I'm jealous of the Kraken though, they're sitting in such a good spot with the cap going forward and they're already a good team.

Yeah I think you'd have to offer POJ and have Boston be really enamored with the idea of him replacing Grezlyk for there to be any traction there. Either that or there just not be much of a market outside of the Eastern Conference.

If Wright makes the team we should make a play for Geekie.

Lol

I used up all of my snarky replies in response to that moron in the Pirates thread so I'll just say "lol" here

Zucker had a beast of a season last season tbf. 3rd for xGF/60 among forwards playing a 1000 minutes, 39th for p/60, 10th for g/60. I think it's quite reasonable to expect that whoever is playing 2LW next season won't do as well, including Zucker if re-upped.

Oh yeah he definitely did have a great year, that's without a doubt. But Hall in a down year didn't really do much worse than Zucker did in his best year in a long time. Hall was at a 1.9 5v5 points/60 compared to a 2.06 5v5 points/60 for Zucker in 2022-2023. That was a lot worse for Hall compared to the previous year (2.31 5v5 points/60 in 2021-2022) while it is a lot better for Zucker (1.57 5v5 points/60 in 2021-2022).

I would very much expect Hall to outperform Zucker going forward, even with Zucker's great 2022-2023 season.

I have advocated for Geekie a ton of times so you won't hear any disagreement from me.

How the Kraken handle Wright is super interesting to see. He doesn't turn 20 until January, so they can't send him to the AHL before then. But I don't really see a spot for him on that NHL team unless they trade someone like Wennberg.

The only Kraken jersey I have is actually a Shane Wright jersey, so I'm obviously hoping he pans out for them

Outperform him going forward? Probably. Outperform what he did last year, which I believe was the point being made? 50-50.

I'm not sure how much Hall drives the bus. His great 21-22 is heavily linked to playing 66% of his minutes with Pasta. Sure, we'd be getting him to play with Malkin, not a slouch... but it all depends on chemistry and fit. Once they finally got Malkin and Zucker on ice without guys being compromised due to injury, they fit really well.

Hall... will probably fit well when they've got the puck. Maybe less so when they don't. Better than Zucker did, I don't know. And the other winger better be a strong goal scorer, as Hall isn't much of one in recent years. Or the playdriver Zucker is.

Honestly I just wish that they could have both Hall and Zucker with Malkin to just avoid the debate between the two. You’re right Hall is more of a playmaker than Zucker and Zucker can do more away from the puck than Hall. But those two seem to have really complementary skill sets, rather than Rust’s skill set of just being not bad at everything.

Hall makes sense, especially if you're exploiting a vulnerable cap strapped Bruins side at the time of acquisition.
Not my first choice, but it's up there. He's almost a lock to put up decent ES points, and the prestige attached to his name may get him a PP1 spot at some point. That way he can produce up to his AAV. If Guentzel is leaving next summer, he could take his spot on the unit.

He ghosts pretty hard during dry spells and his poor defense would annoy some people, but he could bring enough to make it worthwhile. He'd bring entertainment value to L2 for sure, which is probably the most important thing for us.

His term matches our window for playoffs. It'd be nice if Boston retained like a mill.

Hall would be good here and would plug Zuck's hole if he walks, but priorities are priorities man. Teams are already trading well ahead of the draft and it's time to get that 1G. You have a chance to put a Vezina-goalie behind Sid Geno and Tanger for the first and only time in their career. Do it!!!!!!

Also I'd rather get Ullmark than Swayman because 5M x 2 years lines up perfectly with our window and it's solid value

Sprong and his production where he was played is not something to whiff at. To get that production in the minutes and usage he had is insane.

Kartye is a third liner and above. If he's going to get used like Sprong then it's useless this next season to rush him in sparing minutes when he should be playing in the ahl in all situations to start the season.

Ideally he does so well in camp that he makes one of the top 9 wingers expendable. Sprong isn't the target. At his spot and value for what he did, that's an asset as he's shown he can thrive there. Kartye has potential. There's no need to Mike Sullivan his ass.

Desmith is fine imo. His backup performance has been good enough. He's not a starter, and we can't rely on him to be one, but that's why you don't bring Jarry back.

I'd rather go out and get a legitimate good starter and use Desmith as a backup rather than rely on a 1A/1B situation. If we're gonna pay out for goaltending, just get a star number one...if you can.
He has streaks in the season where DeSmith will single-handedly lose us games. He’s not fine. He’s also was hurt in back to back playoffs.

He shouldn’t even be a consideration to remain on this team.

Stop with the laziness here - Hextall is gone. Some of you are still under his spell.
