Penguins are 6 points out. This could get very ugly quick.
It probably will…I think they will win against the Coyotes who are coming off a game tonight but then MTL has been a nightmare team for them and they usually split against Toronto an they beat them at home last month so….expecting a 1-2 record for the week…

Could get ugly?

It already is ugly lol. We have like a 20% chance of making the playoffs and chances are we lose against Montreal and Arizona.

We are essentially counting on all of DET, WSH, and PHI to suck ass. CAR and NJ to not make the playoffs. And us to go on a massive winning streak.

The season is likely over after we go like 1-0-2 this week.

Those 4 losses in a row really bit us huh.

Arizona is a playoff team looking good. Then we play Montreal in a back 2 back. Then Toronto who we tend to play well against but Toronto is tied for 4th in the standings and all it takes is Matthews or Marner to score a couple goals for us to fold.

We really are in trouble.

Also to add - Granlund has literally had respectable numbers on 3 out of the 4 teams he's played on, 56pt average in Minnesota, 50pt average in Nashville, then comes to Pittsburgh with different usage (shock to no one that's paid attention) with a 20pt pace, now in San Jose he's on a 70pt pace.

The irony of this is that you can't use "Oh his shooting percentage is way too high and will level out" - he has 3 goals. He's setting up goals. 15 assists, doing his playmaker thing.

He's not benefiting by puck luck with shooting, he's creating goals for his teammates with plays. That isn't some fluke when you see that roster, that's not easy to do at all and it's more of the Granlund I was a fan of on the Wild. That's the thing, bitch all you lot want with your typical jilted ex bullshit hate for ex pens that some didn't like but this is closer to the Granlund that was with the Wild, this isn't some unheard of version of him thats never been seen. It has. More than any hater wants to admit.

What's next? Lafferty fluked in Chicago, Toronto and Vancouver? Lol...

Even Pearson struggled hard because Sullivan had no idea the type of player he was, very typical of Mike Sullivan to not use players the way they've succeed for most of their careers before coming to the Pens. He put up what, 14pts in 45 games? He bounced back with Vancouver before a mangled broken bone and infection had him out for a year and worried he would never play with his kids normally.

Sullivan f***ing sucks. How the f*** is anyone blaming players still given the info that's been piling up. The system sucks, the usage of players sucks, the positions they're put into to "succeed" in Sullivan's mind is basically setting them up to fail. I would be shocked if Puustinen was used in any meaningful way in the next game. Hell him playing 2 straight games is shocking to me. Being +3 with 2 assists in 2 career games while playing solid at both ends and engaged each shift is useless apparently..
He wasn't respectable in Nashville. His 5v5 scoring was horrid. Had one good year getting a ton of PP points as the 5th option. Not good Defensively either.

There's a reason why Nashville fans celebrated and thought they were giving up the 2nd at first.

Damn you two beat me two it lol

You know it can both be true that Sullivan is a horrendous coach and the Penguins are spiraling down the drain right now mostly due to injuries, right? I know most people on here can't understand nuance, but still.

And with the Capitals, guess what they did last off-season? They fired their coach. It's almost like it's possible that multiple things can be wrong with a team.

Vrana is horrid at this point. He's getting waived because of how awful of a player he is.

Go read what Blues fans are saying about him in the main board thread.
Yah, a 20 game sample, or a full career of consistent 5v5 production.

Talk about sabotaging your own career.

Yep, I 100% expected to see this after his performance in Chicago the other night.

Was one of the worst performances I’ve seen by a player, just a complete refusal to battle for pucks. That was after he had been scratched multiple times already so he still didn’t get the message. Not acceptable, so he can get lost.

Funny how some folks still blame Berube for his usage. As if every coach hasn't hated Vrana for his lack of compete/effort/caring. This is who Vrana is. We gave him a second chance to prove he is NHLer and he didn't want it. I wouldn't be surprised if he has played his last NHL game. Good riddance.

While I agree they coaching staff didn't use him correctly, he didn't give the coaching staff a reason to use him. Probably the worst floater I have ever seen.

I don't know why you think stat watching him somehow counts for more than the fans watching him who are insisting he's awful at this point. He's also not even producing well this year, he has 2 goals in 19 games.

Ye of little faith. Sullivan could get him to play the right way. If he can do it with Karlsson, he can do it with Vrana.

Again, emotional fans don't really matter.

He scores everywhere he goes. Sure he don't play no defense, but he's a great secondary scorer.

Gonna need more than 20 games to say he's awful. (14p in 20 games for STL just last season) His problem is personal and lack of D. But we need scoring so, idc.

Raks has worse numbers next to better players, no one is saying he's beyond saving and isn't NHL caliber.
