Here's the thing I'm struggling with when people say the top 6 is playing so well, but is being tanked by Jarry.
Why does the top 6 have the 6 lowest on ice save percentages among the forwards?
They are all well below what would be considered acceptable save percentages for a goalie, but the bottom 6 all have solid-to-fantastic save percentages. I'm really not trying to defend Jarry here. I was against re-signing him and I agree the dude couldn't make a big save if his life depended on it. But the gap here is too big to be ignored IMO.
The only explanation I can come up with is that they are giving up more quality chances either because a) they are that bad defensively and/or b) are selling out to produce offensively. Either way, I don't think it is helping the team win games as much as some people believe.
I guess there is also c) bad luck, in which case "trust the process".
