Petr Prucha is better than Sidney Crosby.
Evgeni Malkin has thin bones.
...
OK that one was KINDA true.
Petr Prucha is better than Sidney Crosby.
Sorry pixie
So FSG had no mandate about not trading first round picks.
Oh it is a longshot, mostly on EK's health, but also on fit. We have no idea if it will work. But it's exactly the kind of lottery ticket we need to buy right now, and the last two years of his deal don't matter to us, and a rising cap reduces the impact. Our 2nd pairing got very similar usage to our 1st last year, in minutes and matchups. You could argue Petry had tougher 5v5 minutes than Letang, with higher D-zone starts.
So yeah, you can offer sheltered usage to EK, but then Letang's defensive responsibilities go up and he'll produce less offense too.
There's always a trade-off.
I am as happy about this deal as everyone else. I am merely trying to project what will actually happen.
I think it's difficult for EK to compensate for everything we lost in this trade, especially when he's already eating 10 mil and blocking other potential acquisitions. It's a big ask for him to live up to 10 mil alone, when he's horrible at defending.
I really liked Ty Smith in the preseason but wasn't impressed with him on the PP during his short stint with the big club. Deferred a lot and couldn't walk the blue line like #58. My memory is fuzzy but I want to say Sullivan gave him a look with the 1st unit almost immediately when Letang was out? And that lasted only for a handful of powerplays before he was demoted to the 2nd unit.Rakell - Sid - Geno
Karlsson - T. Smith
Do ittt
There's so much I'd like about this unit.
All those shots Smith gets through with Sid as net-front would be dangerous af.
Malkin closer to the net on the half-wall, more dangerous with one-timers.
The point men would be more responsible with giveaways than Letang + Geno.
This is maximizing what we have IMO. Everyone's skillsets fits their positions. Shooting threats on both walls. Our zone entries would likely be cleaner with new personnel. This could be a top 5 PP for sure.
No i think he will come back for the 3rd year and retire with Geno. I think both will leave together.Sid is going to retire in two years?
is that really a good game?WHAT!? IT HAPPENED AND I MISSED IT!?
Was caught up in Baldurs Gate III and the community shield
Eh let’s hope Sully doesn’t screw it upMalkin licking his chops right now thinking of all those juicy one timers he’ll be getting on the PP

I think he's going to have to beat out Ruh for a starting spot before we talk #1 PP unit. Assuming Dubas doesn't have something else cooking right now.
Yeah, you probably watched more than I did then. I agree, they were such a vanilla team, playing an uninspired game.I was not trolling when I said last year I watched the first period and then checked the score in the morning basically every game.
They were f***ing boring and just not worth 2-3 hours of my time
He'll make one mistake while Letang is on his 400th and be benched. They’re gonna need to get POJ worked into the PK rotation rather quickly.
I love Dubas.
I can't wait for this team to have their introductory press conference with Karlsson and Dubas.
So hey, how are things at home mate? Why you saying sorry pixies?
And then Sullivan will show up and Dubas and Karlsson will be all...
Whoever is responsible for putting together the next Penguins anniversary movie when they get to the Hextall era:Dubas really did kinda Thanos snap away GMRH's tenure, huh?

I thought Smith was a little nervous with distribution, but I definitely didn't see any issue with him straddling the line and landing the payload on net. The problem was we had no one in front screening, deflecting, or picking up garbage. So it was all wasted.I really liked Ty Smith in the preseason but wasn't impressed with him on the PP during his short stint with the big club.
