They’re gonna need to get POJ worked into the PK rotation rather quickly.
Yeah, it's time. At least give him a chance before ruling him out as dysfunctional in that capacity by default.
At the beginning of last year, they were almost prepared to put him on waivers. They don't actually know what he can be at this level yet.

The team will be fun to watch and might even win some games if Sid, Geno, Letang and EK all stay healthy for 80 games….odds of that happening: .01 % lol

We have no one on this team who can competently sub in for any of those and it’ll turn into a shitshow when Jeff Carter and Chad Ruh have to sub in the top six and top four respectively because of injuries…
Re: health. Hopefully a lethal PP will make teams less likely to be overly physical against us. Of course, cheap shots aren’t the only — or even leading — cause of injuries, but let’s hope we receive fewer of them than we otherwise might.

I think the easiest way to become cap compliant is waive their 13th forward right before Guentzel gets healthy and just shuttle that forward between WBS and Pittsburgh for the first few weeks after Guentzel comes back. You'll accrue that $80k in cap space in no time with doing that.

I don't know the exact number, but let's assume the NHL season has 180 days per year. With Johnsson at $800k, he's earning roughly $4500 a day in the NHL. If you waive him before Guentzel comes back, you'd have to send him down for a total of 18 days to accrue that $80k in cap space. It's really not difficult to do, you can accomplish that really easily if you're willing to run with a 21 man roster for just 2 weeks.

So Dubas got one of the offensive defensemen in the league, gained 3m in cap space, kept all of our top young players, and undid all of Hextall's horrible contracts in one fell swoop. This is exciting. If they can keep this team healthy (which is going to be difficult), this is really going to be a fun team to watch. Firewagon hockey!

FYI it's 186 days long this season.

Man I am hoping beyond hope that EK can fix the abomination that is our powerplay but like you I do have some reservations about it actually working out that way.

I will say that depending on how they deploy it EK brings a level of poise up top that we have not had since Gonchar. All due respect to Letang who has compiled great PP numbers but he's never been a calming influence at the point on the PP. Karlsson is. He's going to settle things down up there in a way we haven't seen since Gonch.
I’d say that EK should give us a PPQB the likes of which we haven’t seen since Coffey. As you said, Letang isn’t a good PP player and Gonch is a tier below what EK still (hopefully) is offensively.

I still am hopeful Carter can be moved with 50% retention to the Kings. Maybe an injury to one of the forwards and Kings take Carter for that. Wishful thinking but even 1.6 million in space really helps out.

Dubas really did kinda Thanos snap away GMRH's tenure, huh?

And I think we took and upgrade with Graves over Dumoulin. He should pair really nicely with Letang and give us some jam that we were only getting from Rutta.
