Next to nothing. Kane...
Bailey, if he has a bounceback... Doubtful at his age.
Heinen could potentially put up 40 points with Rust usage from last year. Will cost like 1M.
I think Tatar would be our best bet. I have to think we have another move this offseason.

He would, but I'm just not sure how they get compliant when Jake returns if they do that.
Say that's late-October or early-November, that's only 10 games or so before they need a solution. So what do you do?
There's like no options if Carter refuses to be traded. Even if they ran a 21-man roster it's still not enough to activate Jake.

Could you imagine Dubas getting Kane at league minimum. 🤣 He's pretty much done though but I am guessing he will give it 1 more try. We would be so old.

But I can't wait to type KARLSSON!!!!! in the GDT.

Would be a great way to cap off the summer!
Great way to cap off the summer is Tatar in and Carter out.

Kane going full selfless mode for a chance at another Cup? That'd be the best timeline.
He'll be back, just like Backstrom was after the same surgery.

Now for that I would willingly assist with the Dubas statue.

I don't think Kane would be useful at all. He sucked with NYR.

Between Dubas and Khan the Pens and Steelers new GMs have pretty much nailed their first off-seasons.

Petry is not a bad player. You could probably get 45-50 points out of him if used on PP1 all year, while getting significantly better defense than Karlsson.
Rutta is much better than Ruhwedel, who will likely be playing now.
DeSmith has been much better than Nedeljkovic the last 2 years.
Even Granlund could have been a little better than another depth guy we're about to use, but that's borderline. Who knows.

We didn't get EK for free though. Have no illusions about that.
Neither Petry or Rutta hardly made a difference last year. Yea, they're good, but not a 50-70 point difference good.

He was playing in serious pain, with limited mobility. He talked about it.
Still squeezed out 18 points in 26 games as a Ranger.

57 points in 73 games on the year. Far from useless, even now. You just can't pay him for what he was is all.
Ah did he. If he wants like 1M to join the old boys club that's as much as I'd give him but I think we will be fine without him.

I think Jake will be out til DEC at the earliest. Also I don't think Tatar would be all that big a cap hit. Probably one year at 2.0 mil. We'd have to move things around when Jake comes back but we'd have several months to do so.

I think the Pens might have potentially dodged a bullet with Rutta and Petry. They werent bad last year but theyre getting up there in age and werent healthy. Their downward trajectory is only going to continue from here. Id rather bet on old players like Sid/Geno/Letang/EK rather than the Ruttas and Petrys of the world
