I get your point, I I know we have more skilled options for 4th line. I'm just scared that things might turn ugly at some point.
That will force some guys to put on big boy pants.

If this team does, or ever has, any intention on going ANYWHERE in the playoffs be it this year or next, guys like CK, Copp, Laf and the rest of the team will have to become something more than what they are now.

Reaves is a nice add. but in the playoffs against certain teams, his speed on the road will get exposed and while we should get home ice in round 1, the extra road game and last change is going to create significant mis-matches with him on the ice.

the next 10 games and playoffs will present an opportunity for boys to become men. If that happens in the next 10 games, better for us in the PO's.

Can't rely on Reaves to fight battles. It's time for this team as a team and individually to stand up for themselves and their teammates.

I actually had no idea it was derogatory until I joined HF. I used to talk hockey with guys on another forum that wasn’t primarily a hockey forum and I always called us the Rags because that’s just what they were known as. Just thought it was short for Rangers lol
Same here.

Been using and referring to them in that manner for close to 40 years. I don't think it was coined by a devils fan, especially not in the early 80's

Hopefully we can get him back at some point in the playoffs. Kakko and Rooney getting back with 10 games left is a shot in the arm. They are probably chomping at the bit to get back in
That's the only positive. However, Motte was a guy that was PERFECT for their fourth line. Excellent PKer, and he gets hurt in a game against those pukes. Hopefully, Trouba catches someone in round one.

Yeah I don't think it was the Devils either. That said, it doesn't bother me much to be honest and never really heard it until I started frequenting these boards.

Losing Motte stings. We need more fast skaters, not less. OTOH, Goodrow hopefully slots down to line four for the playoffs now. I'd really rather see Vatrano and Lafreniere swapped when Kakko comes back but I'm sure we'll get to watch the kid line sit on the bench through the post-season instead.

Shame, he was fitting in really nicely

This sucks, Motte was the perfect player for our 4th line and PK and he was really fitting in.

Granted when fully healthy if the 4th line is Hunt-Rooney-Goodrow then we're still going to have a good 4th line but Motte was fitting in nicely.

Plus, if they're calling it a significant injury then you know it's something major. Broken collar bone or torn labrum in shoulder or something like that would make sense.

Meh, I think if the kid line is playing well that Gallant is going to use them a normal amount. I don't see him as automatically sitting the kids when things get tight a la Quinn. He's ridden Chytil and Lafreniere late in games lately with no hesitation. Maybe if it's late defending a lead he slots Goodrow in for one of them but I don't see Gallant wanting to do anything other than roll all 4 lines as much as he can.

I was wondering if Gallant was going to slot Kakko back onto line 1, considering that's where he was for 20+ games when he got hurt, but with how well Vatrano has played there I don't think you can take him off unless he starts to slow down.

Laf-Chytil-Kakko has the makings of a good line with complementary playing styles so I think it makes the most sense to try when Kakko is ready.

I don’t see us beating Carolina either. They’re the only team in the east I’m really afraid of, maybe Florida. Every other team is kind of a coin flip in a series at this point
The thing with Florida is that if you're going to ding us for lack of playoff experience, then the Panthers really don't have all that much more.

I looked at that hit on Motte again and it was not a dirty hit. It's just one of those unfortunate things that happen in a violent sport like hockey. People get hurt on clean hits. Could he have let up a little? Maybe, but it looked like he was committed to playing the body and Motte had just given up the puck. That being said I still think the Pens are dirt bags and a few of them would not hesitate to take a cheap shot at somebody especially if they are losing.

If a Pen was on the receiving end of that delivered by Trouba, everyone would be saying the player shouldn't have made himself vulnerable like that. To majority of everyone's credit though, it's been labeled an unfortunate hit and not a dirty one.

I want the Rangers to play Pittsburgh in the first round. This is the last run for that group. Malkin and Latang are free agents. Will Hextall re-sign them? Maybe he signs one of them. Take them out.
I agree and use EVERY F'n iota of muscle mass we have at our disposal ...even if we only win one round...let it be over them . I find a way to get Gauthier hypnotized and tell him he is a wrecking ball and to hit everybody hard at every time they have the puck .....must be a shrink in NYC that can get in his head....:hit:

Hard disagree. I doubt the hit on Motte happens with Reaves in the game.

Also, playing against him and getting your d-men pummeled shift after shift has a huge effect on a 7 game series. A player like him can soften the offensive zone for our best players. And he can keep some of our best 4th liners fresh in later games too (or vice versa).

I’m not saying you play him every game. But he definitely should see some ice time to set the right tone in some games. And you should definitely rotate who is in that 4th line to ensure they’re fresh and physical every night compared to opponents who will likely rotate a bit less than us.
I get so tired of this narrative that if Reaves is in the lineup these things don't happen. It's provably bullshit and makes zero sense.

When Reaves was in the lineup against TB, Maroon certainly didn't avoid smashing a Ranger. The notion that a guy who is physical won't look to lay a licking on an opposing player is such crap.

I agree it was a clean hit. Doesn’t mean I’m not mad about it.

En Taro Adun

Protoss were my go-to! My life for Aiur! :D

I have to say, Zibanejad has certainly become a Zealot down the stretch here. Man possessed.

I mean Vatrano has been good on that line...can't deny how that has worked out. But I do agree that Gallant has to trust that 3rd line more. You can't roll your top six and 4th line all playoffs long because you don't want to trust the younger players in the 3rd period.
