I'm not even sure if he will *replace* him. I think he'll be better and replaces Dvorak. We have Kapanen too who will definitely play the NHL.

I'd be more looking at Davidson or Florian to replace Evans' fourth line centering.
It's too risky to go into next season counting on Beck to replace Evans up the middle. If Evans is gone, Habs will need to add a veteran center at least for the short term to insulate everyone other than Suzuki.

These B-level prospects rarely become minutes eating NHL centers overnight.

Thats what I have been trying to say but it seems other fans think that we can just replace Evans and Dvo with rookies thinking they will be #1 fine playing in the NHL without struggling and #2 able to handle a full 82 game schedule and #3 thinking we wont have injuries. Replacing Dvo with a rookie is fine but replacing two centers with rookies is going to be a disaster.

We can't just keep cutting loose/trading respectable players just because we "think" we have a rookie that can do the same job and or do it better when they haven't had a lick of NHL experience.

I agree with many that we can't risk going into next year with Suzuki and a bunch of maybes.
maybe Dach can play C
maybe beck is ready for the heavy load of playing 3C
maybe Kapanen can be a 4th C.
Maybe Demidov can replace Dach.
habs brass know this; I think they're haggling with Evans over term. I would give him a bit more money and try to get him @ 4 years to cover his 29-33 y.o seasons.
If not, and they deal him, I have 0 doubt they will sign a UFA, 4C for next year

If we sign Bennett to a 8+ million dollar contract and he maintains his scoring average of 45 points a season, Hughes, Gorton and Bennett will be eaten alive by media and fans alike.

Newhook and Dach are on pace for 30 and 35 points and all of you want to catapult them to the moon!! Bennet having 40 point seasons at 8+ million per... yeah good luck with that!

About your trades. When I was looking at our calendar, I looked at yours. On March 6 you have your first game in the West with Edmonton, then Calgary, Vancouver and Seattle, with Vancouver and Seattle being day-to-day. I assume you're leaving on March 5. So at the most, you should know who's leaving by then. Then there's another catch. You write that the GM wants Laval to win the AHL (logical to me, he wants young players to learn how to win in the PO). So not the fact that there will be trades.

2C and 3C are big question marks for next year. Beck i'm sure can do 4C and Suzuki is 1C. I agree they need to ensure at least a 2C that they can rely on

That's because Dach can't win a faceoff and can't play on the defensive side of the puck and adds very little offensively.

Bennett could be better on the draw, but he's taking the most on the Panthers (Barkov injury) and they're a pretty good team.

He averages as much time on the PK as both Newhook and Dach combined ! (Its 4 seconds on average a game)

He brings agitation to his game when neither of the others do.

He's a proven performer in the playoffs.

Can't imagine the Habs go 8 for him, but 7 I can definitely see.

He brings a lot to the game and maybe it's just the Habs aren't good, but Dach and Newhook aren't bringing much to the team in any capacity.

I think Habs have to trade Dvo, Evans, Armia and Savard at a minimum.

They need spots for youngsters moving up and hopefully add some solid veteran experience. Next year try to move Anderson, Gally and Matheson and repeat.

This team needs to get better players, more veterans and more depth then current so the can insulate new kids coming and support/supplement existing core. At a minimum they’re bringing in Demidov, Beck, Kapanen, Mailloux and Reinbacher next year at one point or another. Not to mention players who may be pushing for spots like Tuch, Roy, Xhekaj as well. Also, with all the cash and prospect/picks, Habs will undoubtedly try to land a big fish or two via trade and/or UFA markets.

Too many players they need to rotate out to make space for better players.
I don’t see more than Dvo being dealt, unless Savard can net more than a 3rd rounder.

Next season Demigod and perhaps Beck will likely be the only rookies to start the season w Habs

Young players will organically filter into lineup as Savard, Gally, Matheson depart over next 2-3 years
