True lol. But the other areas have impressed me too. He is so smart when he picks his spots to get in on the rush. I havent watched last game but I can't remember him making a bad decision to get up on the rush where it equaled an odd man rush the other way.

He is just so patient and holds the line perfectly.
I do agree. I have been impressed by him so far.

To be fair to Drysdale he's barely played hockey since the 2021-22 season, so who even knows what he is at this point.

But like we've all seen in just a handful of games, I think Minty is just on another tier in terms of overall hockey sense and natural ability as a defenseman. They still might be our #1 and #2 guys in a few years, who knows. Pavel has surpassed him potential-wise in my mind already though.

Gotta love how everything gets magnified because it’s the beginning of the season.

He has definitely looked good and the potential is exciting, but might want to temper the expectations of an all time great based on 7 games.

Has been more human last two games.

I was singing his praises(perhaps a little too mightily ) after first few. But we have a defense this season and he is a big part of it.

He made so many good reads in the offensive and neutral zones to prevent Pitt counter-attacks. It was incredible. He still makes a rookie mistake on occasion (like falling asleep on that breakaway), but he really looks like the real deal. I'm finding it hard to contain my expectations. At this point, I pretty much expect him to be Scott Niedermayer with worse skating. Too much? That's probably too much.

Ive seen Sergachev, doughty and Mcavoy thrown around a bit for comparables... and i could see all 3

What's the easiest way to place a bet on the Calder for somebody who lives in SoCal? lol
Do yourself a favor and just don't. Unless a rookie of ours magically scores 100 points in a season, we will never see a Ducks player win the Calder trophy. The East Coast bias is real, and it shows time and again.
Remember when Bobby Ryan scored, what, 30+34 in his rookie season and finished behind a fat goaltender who posted good, but not elite numbers on a highly defensively-orientated team in Columbus and retired age 30? Yeah, I do.

Before the season I thought he compared to players like Zach Werenski and Thomas Chabot. That was seemingly very high praise at the time
He is WAY more physical, better defensively, and probably even more creative offensively than those players though. Don’t think it’ll be close now

That give and go he did last night (think it was when he was out with thd 4th line) was kinda Makar-esque. Was it Lyubushkin he passed it to? And then he darted down the left wing only to receive a pass.

Gosh, I don’t know how long it’s been since we had a dman willing and able to make plays like that. It takes a strong combo of skill but also will and desire.

I think he got that pass to Carrick on the play you are referring to, but I could be wrong. Was a very nice play though by him.

+4000 Calder odds. Just placed a very small bet, first time in my 30+ years I’ve ever gambled on anything lol. So if his play starts tanking you know why.

Edit: just not saw they had him at +7000 a week ago. Sheesh
