change was needed. Lets see what happens.

I am still processing this, but Lambert needed to go and it was obvious. I heard the Alan Hahn segment about the Isles being a Country Club the other day and that's the problem. A pebble needed to dropped onto the pond, Lou chucked a pipe bomb with Roy. It now brings the Isles into the national spotlight. Maybe our overlooked stars like Dobson get some more press.

Best case scenario is this is the spark that ignites this team. I was frustrated with Lambert as he was wasting probably the most talented team in quite some time and constructed well for a real Cinderella run.

Sign Parise, make some all in move to get Hanifin or something and go for it.

That's why I wanted Berube, he has fire. I think this is the kick in the ass they need.

That's ownerships fault for having Roy and Sakic both with managerial titles. Dispute was inevitable. Not here though, not under Lou.

Read an article dated two weeks ago he turned down 2 western conference jobs due to western conference travel.
That may be the case, but he was never talked about anywhere before ‘recently’ which kinda suggests someone floated that so it doesn’t look like a guy having only one option. The travel thing is a red herring, beyond time zone, he’ll have no free time to see his family and traveling naturally messes with communication.

Roy’s reputation in the NhL as a coach is a hot head and arrogant son of gun that did not get along with his management. That's usually not endearing to many GMs, let alone a softy market on coaching tactics in this day.

Roy is getting a shot bc of Lou under Lou’s rules/code. This is Roy’s only shot back in the NHL.

It actually makes me think Lou’s on his last legs. Ownership wasn’t going to give him a coach with term and big $$. Roy prob comes pretty cheap and is expendable if things don’t go well the rest of the year. Don’t think he was in much demand.

I’ve referred to them in the past as today’s version of the old Ranger teams of the 70’s (Fat Cats) a term bestowed on them by the media, after Emile Francis rewarded the star players with lengthy and costly contracts at that time. Now I’m not sure how many other teams have as many 8 year contracts as the NYI but I’d expect there reserved for stars .

Move had to be made after that road trip. Certainly was not expecting Roy, at first not a huge fan of the hire but he should at least get the team more fired up after several lackluster games
