Hate to see anyone lose a job, but a shakeup seemed necessary.

Kill Lou all you want but he was able to bring in a big name. Franchise has legitimacy. Hopefully it will translate into more wins with a new coach.
Eh, I wouldn't call Roy a "big name" in the coaching ranks. I've got no problem giving a guy a second chance, but I'm also not going to act like this is similar to a Barry Trotz hire. We'll see what he brings, but I'm at least confident Lou will still fire anybody who doesn't perform.

Any reactions from players out there?

I think I was responsible for this move. I had been holding out bashing Lambert and wanting him fired all season. I finally jump on the Fire Lane train and boom... this happens.

You're welcome, you shits. I had Chipotle for lunch today. :)
Do you have to call the store ahead of time to have them make extra steak for you? :sarcasm:

I just made the transition myself, lol. But you can take the credit. I might never have Chipotle for lunch ever again ...

People don’t want to admit it but that’s all Lou. Say what you want about his moves, but if he’s not GM we never get Trotz, players like Horvat likely dont sign, and big name coaches like Roy don’t even give us a second thought.
After Roy’s exit and the way he did it, he’s lucky and probably grateful to get another chance. It’s not Lou who convinced him to return but it is Lou who is going out on a limb and giving him another chance

It actually makes me think Lou’s on his last legs. Ownership wasn’t going to give him a coach with term and big $$. Roy prob comes pretty cheap and is expendable if things don’t go well the rest of the year. Don’t think he was in much demand.
I would think the minimum ask from ownership to Lou is to keep the momentum moving forward. Playoffs, win a round minimum (ok, that might not be good enough for fans, but for an owner two rounds is big money for the team). More on the business side of things is where he will be evaluated.

Agree, no matter his junior record, his performance in the NHL and his exit was less than impressive. He needed the Isles to get in. The Isles can cut the deal as they see fit.

I am still processing this, but Lambert needed to go and it was obvious. I heard the Alan Hahn segment about the Isles being a Country Club the other day and that's the problem. A pebble needed to dropped onto the pond, Lou chucked a pipe bomb with Roy. It now brings the Isles into the national spotlight. Maybe our overlooked stars like Dobson get some more press.

Best case scenario is this is the spark that ignites this team. I was frustrated with Lambert as he was wasting probably the most talented team in quite some time and constructed well for a real Cinderella run.

Sign Parise, make some all in move to get Hanifin or something and go for it.
Is Alan Hahn clip online anywhere ?

Lambert's release was coming. I think we could finally all sense it. But I certainly didn't expect Roy to be tabbed as our next HC. It's certainly worth a shot.

And anyone complaining about the Roy hire who was begging for Lambert to get fired need to get a grip. You got your wish. Lambert's gone. See what Roy can do with this roster before you lose your minds over the hire. Probably can be said of every team's fan base, but we have some real headcases who simply cannot be pleased not matter what moves are made.
