Kinda a Ted Nolan move. Roy needed an in, Lou needed a coach with a chip on his shoulder.
People don’t want to admit it but that’s all Lou. Say what you want about his moves, but if he’s not GM we never get Trotz, players like Horvat likely dont sign, and big name coaches like Roy don’t even give us a second thought.well...at least people know who we are now...our org is starting to attract bigger names
Just one quick aside - Roy is a big name coach? No one, and I’d bet coin on it, had Roy as a possible replacement.People don’t want to admit it but that’s all Lou. Let’s look at the bright side on this. Lou hired Trotz, hired his up and coming assistant to be the next coach (pretty common), that coach opened the system last year only to be failed by the players that wanted it, Lou upgraded the talent, the team made the playoffs, but was meh in a winnable series. This will be Lou's last coaching hire.
Hopefully, no more excuses for these guys now.Well at a minimum the new coach smell should get the slackers that actually play on the ice out of their funk for a little bit.
Not true, he’s been killing it in the Q and is coming off a championship there. Friedman has mentioned him as a guy teams have looked at in the past year or so.Just one quick aside - Roy is a big name coach? No one, and I’d bet coin on it, had Roy as a possible replacement.
We'd probably have won more than 19 games this year if it weren't for Lou.People don’t want to admit it but that’s all Lou. That's why I wanted Berube, he has fire. I think this is the kick in the ass they need. His passion is certainly more…obvious…than Count Dracula’s was.
That's ownerships fault for having Roy and Sakic both with managerial titles. Dispute was inevitable. Not here though, not under Lou.He won the Jack Adams. He got in a dispute with Sakic and left( he also had another title which meant he was in on the team decisions and that is where they had the dispute). I think he knows it wasn’t the best of ideas. A mistake? Yes. A mess? I don’t think so.
Read an article dated two weeks ago he turned down 2 western conference jobs due to western conference travel.Kinda a Ted Nolan move. Roy needed an in, Lou needed a coach with a chip on his shoulder.
You’re a messiah.I don't know exactly what Roy will bring but as long as he likes to win and plays to win I'm all in. Fck chess. My hope is he brings back some old school vibe to this team and has the defense hitting again and standing up at the blue line. UNLEASH the whole frigging team Roy!
"Right way to play the game" my ass.
Wang hired Snow.... ok let's not start this. It's a good day. I think. If you’re separating blame between Lou and Lane, Lou gets very little (beyond hiring Lane).
This was Roy’s first game as a HC in Colorado BTW. What spurred this was an dirty knee to knee play by Ben Lovejoy on then rookie MacKinnon.
Didn't take a messiah to predict Lambert was toast. You’re a messiah.
