This should go into the I am old forum
It seems like yesterday he started his career

Hated him as a rival, I was always so envious of Boston. Such a classy player
Wish him all the best. I can definitely see him in GM capacity someday

Great career and the best defensive/two-way forward ever, hope he enjoys retirement.

I was reading through his wiki and I don't know how this ever gets matched: He won a Men's World Championship gold medal before a U20 World Junior Championship because of the lockout. It would take some unique circumstances to be matched.

As many times as he was on the winning end of some absolutely devastating moments in Leafs history in the last 20 years, there’s not many players I have respected or admired quite like Bergeron. It’s amazing how effective he was even last year, he’s definitely leaving on a good note of his career. I hope he’s able to enjoy some family time and i have my fingers crossed we’ll see him again in a coaching capacity. His knowledge of the game and leadership would be incredibly valuable.

Happy Retirement Bergy!

19 years, still playing at a high level, plenty left in the tank.

This is a rare type of retirement for a star. Hell of a player!

Probably one of the most respected players in NHL history.

Always admired how he went from. a high scoring guy to a lock down two-way defensive machine post concussion.

Not to mention he made the Bruins right after the draft despite being a 2nd round pick. Thats harder than people realize.

Very lucky he got that one Cup thanks to Thomas having the greatest playoff run of any goalie since the 2005 lockout, or he'd be the best player to never win one.
