Did they change the Nylander goal to Kase? I kind of hope so because while it's good to see the core produce, the fact that the depth is giving them almost noyhing is starting to get concerning

You know who's a superstar tough to play against? Go see MacKinnon, go see McDavid, Crosboy, Malkin, Oveckhin, Kucharov and Drai

Their game doesn't just revolve around a shot. They create havoc on opponents D, they create chances out of nothing, their instill fear in opposition every time they have the puck. That's what I am talking about. They take it to the opponents

You keep focusing on goals. As if Matthews is the only player who scores in this league. Pstarnak scores goals and he's always brings it. Today it was Marian Hossa who used to score goals and he was one of the most toughest to play against

You keep thinking it's all about points. He's not difficult to play against doesn't mean he's not a good player. Matthews is simply not difficult to play against. He gives up on the play easily, he gets knocked off the puck and he gives up

He only scored tonight because it was 3 on 3. He hasn't been difficult to play against.
A little context maybe? The guy missed all of training camp, all pre-season games, and then the first 4 games.

Even when he came back you could tell his wrist was still not right. His shot was a complete muffin and even when he does catch a one-timer flush the accuracy just isn't there yet.

Take away the best weapon of any those guys listed above and they'd also be a lot easier to play against.

We haven't seen Matthews even close to his best yet, I'd say give him until game 25 or so based on the time he's missed and the nature of his injury, I mean we're talking wrist surgery here after all. Saying all that he's still been a damn near PPG player even with the D draped all over him every game.

The only forward in the NHL better than AM is McDavid. No question. I agree with game 25, AM will have every team running to try and stop him.
The bottom 6 is starting to look better every game.
The real issue in the Leafs is Marner.
1. Breakaway and no shot.
2. Gets a great chance and shot looks like a peewee flip.
3. 2 on 1 with lead hands Muzzin and rather than being a 10.5M player he passes. If he could actually shoot he could have 40 to 50 per yr. and make the Leafs Stankey Cup Champions.
Sorry Marner, close only matters in horseshoes and hand grenades.

1. He drew a penalty after being hooked
3. Muzzin was cms from scoring and hit the post

Weird criticisms

3. There was sooooo much room in that corner too, the goalie had really over committed. Exciting miss tho, woulda been good for him.

Great win. Here’s hoping the trend of everyone showing up continues. Marner best player on either side again, another nice trend.

Close is no good. 10.5m means he needs to be a big boy and score. The criticism is justified. If he could be a scorer with his elite skills, the Stanley Cup would be in Toronto this spring.
That is the goal. Not to say for year 55, almost, could have been, next year, they tried, the refs were bad, etc etc.

Marner is the pot that is stirring that JT line. His cap hit is still a JOKE no doubt; but his on ice play has gotten better. He just needs to get it done in the playoffs

I figured out what was wrong with the team early on this season.

Every game I watched they lost.

Every game I didn't they've won.

Plan the parade boys I'm never watching again.

Lets start a go fund me account to send this dude on a vacation to a place where they haven't even heard of hockey for the entirety of playoffs ;)

The criticism is not justified. He made the correct play, and he actually made it beautifully, in the best possible way, opening up significant space to shoot at. No player in the history of the league comes close to scoring on every opportunity. The fact he's creating so many opportunities should probably tell you something.

Interesting that the Leafs are 24th in PDO despite their strong record.

Seems like their offense will eventually break out and get hot.

They were 2nd last for PDO at one point I think and realistically should have at least 11 wins by now if they got any type of puck luck early in the season.

They can get their 10th win tonight against the Sabres and if the Cats lose to the Bolts on the road, the Leafs would have the exact same number of wins as the universally loved juggernaut Panthers.
