I think they should take out at least Simmonds as well. He had a really bad game and it would be a good time to get Joey Anderson a game.

May be an idea to give Spezza a day off too, even though he wasn't that bad. We can afford to sit him on a B2B without consequence right now and Semyonov did well in Philly.
I am torn on Simmonds, on one hand I agree that he is pretty much useless but on another, he is a police out there.
Magnieore(can’t spell his name) was flying like Willie out there till Simmonds cross checked him, it was kind of a cheap shot due to after the whistle, then Mag was just quiet. Funny thing was, TSN really tried to hyped him up today but just couldn’t get any footage and the moment he got a shot on goal in the 3rd, they used it right away.
I really think having guys like Ritchie and Simmonds in the lineup makes the other team think twice before taking liberty at our guys and help contain those rats around the crease.

Rielly has had a ton of success on those gambles, and this was probably the worst game of the year when it comes to getting burned on them.

A lot of bounces went Calgary's way and it made him get caught a bit more than he would have liked.
He’s just gotta be smarter with his pinches. I believe he thinks that with his speed he can get back easily. Hasn’t always worked that way this season. I think in a 0-0 game a more conservative approach would be more prudent.

You know who's a superstar tough to play against? Go see MacKinnon, go see McDavid, Crosboy, Malkin, Oveckhin, Kucharov and Drai

Their game doesn't just revolve around a shot. They create havoc on opponents D, they create chances out of nothing, their instill fear in opposition every time they have the puck. That's what I am talking about. They take it to the opponents

You keep focusing on goals. As if Matthews is the only player who scores in this league. Pstarnak scores goals and he's always brings it. Today it was Marian Hossa who used to score goals and he was one of the most toughest to play against

You keep thinking it's all about points. He's not difficult to play against doesn't mean he's not a good player. Matthews is simply not difficult to play against. He gives up on the play easily, he gets knocked off the puck and he gives up

He only scored tonight because it was 3 on 3. He hasn't been difficult to play against.
LOL. I bet every one of those superstars you named would disagree with you.

I've never seen a luckier team than Calgary every time they come to Toronto. They always get outplayed but their goalies turn into prime Hasek. Or maybe we just suck at finishing.

Sucks we gave them a loser point, but a well deserved win.

I agree with you that this year he has been a lot easier to play against. Hence the point of last year and really the previous one as well.

Nylander carried

Really nice effort by the team tonight

Nylander was our best forward tonight followed by Marner probably. And even though Matthews had a pretty meh game he was generating tons of chances late and in OT and got the winner. Kase is relentless. Campbell was heroic again.

Lmao what a load of crap.

How can you watch this game and not see Matthews beasting all over the puck in all zones.

And then compare him to a floater like Pastrnak who lives off his linemates? Hilarious. Go read a Boston thread and see what pastrnak is really is.

You are very bad at watching hockey.
