Leafs played a pretty decent game. I was frustrated as usual with their lack of offense, but at the end of the day, it doesn't matter when you have stellar goaltending that Campbell has been providing.
Matthews had a pretty bad game up until towards the end of the game, looked to be fobbling the puck a lot, but as usual, he scores the big goals even when he hasn't been at his best.
Nylander has been the Leafs' best player outside of Tavares and Campbell, he's been absolutely fantastic. I still can't get over why so many people wanted him traded. One of my favorite players since he debuted with the Leafs.
What continues to concern me is the severe lack of secondary scoring. Bunting plays with two of the NHL's better players and barely musters any offense. Kerfoot plays with one of the best playmakers in the NHL and has a meager two goals getting second line minutes.
Engvall is pretty useless, the only time he shoots is low percentage shots and has no offensive awareness to his game whatsoever.
I do like Kase and Kampf though, as they bring other aspects to their game.
Simmonds provides no offense, Ritchie... doesn't bring much of anything.
This team is a mystery to me this season. On one hand, their top four are doing fine, but on the other hand, the rest of the secondary offense is non-existent. That has to be concerning to others or maybe it's just me and I like to complain, who knows?!
Still, a good game, I can't complain about their effort. Just wish they didn't make a third stringer look as good as he did. Exciting game though, so I guess thanks for that then at least.
