Wishing on a goddamn star. That Tkachuk reasoning is hilarious.

It happens all the time that players have a year off after signing a big contract.... Players often give everything they have in contract year and after having increased their value and ensured their future, their focus on being the absolute best they can be requires too much effort and they prefer to be human a little bit. It is human nature. If I was a betting man I would not bet on Tkachuk scoring 105+ pts next year.

As for the panthers ... yeah wishing on a star. But stranger things have happened.

a LOT of ridiculously wishful thinking in this thread lol

do you really think that losing weegar, huberdeau, and marchment while gaining tkachuk is enough to push a president's trophy team down into the lottery? I don't think so.
Exactly.

While I agree Buf, Det and Ott all improved, they will not make the PO. Not even close.

And I don't really see TBL or BOS being better this year.

Florida will be in the top two in the Atlantic, maybe just not in the president's trophy position anymore. That being said, depending who they are playing in the first round, they may get through.

They may not be cup contenders, but this is definitely a late 1st round pick.

It might be enough to push them out of the top 10. As @BigDaddyLurch stated, They've lost play driving, on top of having major holes on D.

A season of injuries (Duclair already) and they might miss the playoffs altogether.

A lot can happen each season bud..
Just because you're #1 in the NHL one season doesn't mean you're 100% #1 next year..

We went to the finals 1 season, dead last the next.

Who expected the sharks to completely collapse after getting Karlsson. Everyone had them pegged as legit cup contenders. Instead they smoked and gifted the sens stuzle.

There are decent chances this can happen again tho hopefully right away. Sharks took one season after ek to collapse.

Difference is their team was full of aging players with large contracts... Not many similarities to panthers

He did a terrific job as D coach w Avs, which is why he was hailed from all corners when named Habs AHL coach back in 2012.

Some people are better assistants than the big boss just sayin…
Yes, I remember those Avs’ defense powerhouse teams in the 2010s…

I don't think it's likely Florida sucks this year, but I do think there is a possibility.

They were swept looking really bad in playoffs. Sometimes, it's hard for teams to come back from that.
Also, some MAJOR off-season roster changes. Sometimes change is good, but sometimes it's also very dangerous, can seriously mess with team chemistry, etc. So, that's unpredictable too.
Their goalie - Bob is ridiculously inconsistent past few years. He was better last year, but imo still huge question mark going into next season. I do think Knight has very good potential, but Panthers expected him to solidify as #1 goalie last year and he struggled a lot - so goaltending still has question marks.

So - will Panthers definitely suck? Of course not. But out of all of the "top teams" last season, I think there's a few of them who have higher likelihood than others to self-implode, and I think Florida is one of those.

Nah, the fact that Buf, Det, and Ottawa are stronger will hurt teams like Florida the most: they have a number of depth issues.

Bobrovsky is a bit of a wild card - especially if their defence stays as-is, they may struggle more than last year.

Florida is hard to judge as they lost their 2nd best dman, downgraded on arguably their best forward and have the embodiment of goalies are voodoo in net.

That being said they won the presidents trophy last year. 20-25 is where the pick most likely ends up if I have to guess though.

16-20 or 21-25 is likely the range they fall. Odds that it is 26-32 is similar to 10-15.

I voted 16-20 range. Still sneak in the playoffs but the Atlantic it tougher now.

Lots of things need to go wrong for that to be a top 15 pick.

Pick 21-32 definitely

A higher pick is wishful thinking
Don't think so ,
Panthers chemestry is fuucked up with all the changes that as been made.
I see them barely making the playoff next year and loosing in the first round for us to get pick # 20

Winning all the games against the Panthers next season will help. At the very least, win half of them please.

Panthers have question marks but are their question marks any more than the Canes last year with their "roster turnover"?

I'm expecting a pick from 16-20 range. Possible it's 21-25 ish. Below 16? Possible but small %
