Some of the things I noticed in the extraskater stat sheets:
Bolland is a QoC specialist. He played as heavy QoC in Blackhawks and Leafs as Barkov did in late last season for the Panthers. So obviously he is exactly the type of player you put in a shut down role to get the best out of your offensive lines. He can produce at 40 point pace with third line talent against the best lines in the NHL, so I'd think he is around the same as Barkov was last season for the Panthers, if he stays healthy. But if he does that, it might mean Barkov doesn't need to go against the Toews' and Getzlafs of the league and it might open up more offensive chances and less running in the D-zone for Bjugs/Barkov lines.
I was actually hoping the Panthers would have gotten Komarov for a shut down role, but I guess even 3.5 wouldn't have been enough to lure him out of Toronto as they offered close to 3 million. That in mind I think this was maybe an overpayment of 750k, around the same kind of overpayment as I would have expected to be needed to get Komarov.
Barkov played +/- 0 against the top lines of the league. Well that's great in all other ways, but it would have been nice to have him getting the O-zone starts and the easy match-ups to get his line scoring. Now either Barkov or Bjugs will get some easier matchups, Bolland makes that possible.
EDIT: Bolland actually can up his game in the play-offs (11-12 and 12-13 season)
