I agree. I can’t help but feel Max rushed it and paid pretty dearly, and I wonder what role the team played. You can say “well….Anderson….” but not only did that situation appear player driven it seemed that the team might not have agreed completely, though of course they do now.Sounds like Andersen did the right thing, then. Compared to the start of the season, he looks fully healthy and rejuvenated. Since his return, he has made both Pyotr and Anti look very second rate. I'm glad he took the time he needed to get fully healthy.....(don't you do it universe!!!)....and didn't rush back too soon to reinjure himself.
Actually he's preeeetty close but misses the option by a couple of months for the next season:I'm not sure he's old enough to qualify for some of the games played bonuses (@Lempo may have more info here) but a one year show me deal I can 100% see. And we're the kind of team that lives to give those out.
Performance Bonuses shall be allowable under this Agreement only for:
(ii) Players aged 35 or older as of June 30 prior to the League Year in which the SPC is to be effective, who have signed a one-year SPC for that League Year; and

He could sign a mid season deal.Actually he's preeeetty close but misses the option by a couple of months for the next season:

He would need to be 35 on the final day of this season to be eligible for 35+ contract in the next season. The SPC signing date doesn't factor into it.He could sign a mid season deal.
The coming back early thing, the NHL has to be the worst in terms of how long players are truly out. There's never a definitive answer, ever. And honestly some of that is the players themselves, they'll play injured and pretend all is well.
Max was expected to be out til, early February? And came back a month earlier than first thought? And he seemed to be ready to go, as if he himself felt ready.
Unfortunately the bug came back.
Did the NHL remove the bonus options for players returning from long term injury? I’m confident Pacioretty qualifies for a contract with performance bonuses under that rule but I’m unsure if the rule still exists.Actually he's preeeetty close but misses the option by a couple of months for the next season:

Good thinking. I whirled past that sub-section and went only by his age. The rule is still there and he would qualify, if he signs a one-year SPC for 2023-24.Did the NHL remove the bonus options for players returning from long term injury? (iii) Players who are "400-plus game Players" for pension purposes, and who: (i) in the last year of their most recent SPC, spent 100 days or more on the Injured Reserve List; and (ii) have signed a one-year SPC for the current or upcoming League Year
Been an emotional week in Canes land...maybe we can cheer him on during his recovery like fans did for Dougie
