If he does go FA that’s fine too. I’m also wary of trading players you just acquire and sign but at the same time that trade was impossible to say no to, and I feel players need to respect and understand that. Or they don’t. It’s about the team- not the individual.

Yea I agree saying that this is why Walsh left is silly, but...if I was a college player and saw my club that drafted me trade someone they just signed, you'd bet for sure I'd just go to FA.

We signed Davies in April. There's nothing to prevent any other team Walsh could sign with from trading him two months after they sign him. It's not like we signed Davies two days before we traded him.

but signing him to an ELC helps him out - not signing him means he walks as a free agent, where there isn't guaranteed money

sure, he won't be being paid WITH US, but he has a contract signed for a lot of money, and is still under contract with the preds

Walsh has stated his priority is to play in the NHL as soon as possible. His fastest route is to sign with us, which can be as early as the end of this season. Waiting to become a UFA would add another 2 seasons to that timeline.

This happens all the time, though - either a player's rights are dealt before they sign, or for junior players, they've already signed a contract and get dealt. The Devils did this with Patrice Cormier in the Kovalchuk deal, for instance.

Plus it's not like he got sent to Edmonton - he got sent to a team that's going to be up against the cap and needs inexpensive defensemen and that has a reputation for developing them.

An NHL contract doesn't offer much protection. Neal Pionk signed with the Rangers as a UDFA - he got dealt 2 years after signing. Even signing a big contract with a no-trade doesn't protect a player, and here Richards and Carter aren't even the best example - PK Subban is, he was dealt before his NTC kicked in with Montreal, and then Nashville refused to honor that clause when they got him, potentially paving the way for him to come here.

Just bought my authentic home Subban jersey. I always hated the new reds and told myself I would never get one which is why I have a few new white ones, but for some reason that 76 and Subban on the red looks so damn good. Couldn’t pass it up. Also got 30% off on cool hockey so thats helps. :snide:

Just did the same

This is like jersey #20 in my collection. I can't wait to make my man cave one of these days.

I remember seeing Subban in a night club on a Sunday night back when he was with the Habs. He was drunk af, and I was wondering if the Habs had the day off the next day.

I wake up the next day, turn my tv on, and I see him practicing with the team lol

ah, such is life …..we've all been there (late nights) …its the ability to function the next day that makes the superhero in you

Love this guys personality, he plays with an edge and is a gamer. He’s going to inject some life into the Rock

Oh yes he will, he's a great guy. Fans absolutely loved him in Montreal.

I mean obviously Carey Price is\was their best player when Subban was in Montreal, but I believe PK was the face of the Franchise. He isn't your typical hockey player with barely any personality and that rubbed a lot of your average hockey fan the wrong way. I don't want to bring politics into that, but him being black also ''made'' it easier for them to hate on him especially in a Province like Quebec.

The return was lighter than expected for them because we were the only team seemingly willing to take on his full $9 million cap hit since we had the space.
The additional cap hit is only a little less than 7.6 million the first two seasons and some Devils fans here consider Santini a cap dump.

Wow

I do the same thing in my beer league hockey and softball games...turns out I'm not so different him and I

How many Zubrus ones do you own? I proudly have two.

Amazingly none! But I need to invest in one eventually. The last few years, it has become me buying 2 a year for myself. Now that I have disposable income at least, it can be used to create my eventual man cave that I plan on making in our house.

I have a Parise, Hall (autographed), Hischier, Henrique (autographed), Kovalchuk (autographed, also a blue Thrashers one!), Coleman (autographed), Carter (fake, but I wanted to represent him back when I had no money haha ), Palmieri (autographed), Clarkson (autographed), Salvador, Arnott (autographed), Elias (autographed), Rafalski, Brodeur, Schneider (USA World Cup), Mogilny

Now Subban will join the collection :)
