I don't care about PP assists - those could be anything. Half of them could be tips on shots directed at the net. Nashville's PP has been between meh and awful the last 3 years and part of that is because they ran a 3F 2D PP that looked to feed Subban for slapshots. I can't access power play shot numbers right now, as naturalstattrick seems to be down, but I'd bet Subban is either 1 or 2 in PP shots on that team in that time.

Okay, I actually braved NHL.com and Subban is 3rd behind Josi and Forsberg for PP shots over this time. So Josi's the real offender in this regard. But yeah, I'm not that worried given who the Devils hired as analytics people and what they've done to date with their PP under Hynes.
that would make them primary assists and pretty vital to the actual goal being scored?

Love that we have PK Subban, but really hate to see Davies be a part of the deal.

He just signed his ELC and he was stoked about getting his career started with the Devils.

Wish that a guy like Anderson or McLeod was in there instead of Davies. I really think that Davies will be a good player. Soon.

Yeah I know. Just unfortunate that we had to give him up. Wish it could've been a forward instead. We need all good d-men we can get.

But I guess Davies was the guy Nashville wanted, and that should tell us a whole lot of how highly valued he is. Nashville knows good d-men when they see one and they know that Davies will be a special player.

Just bought my authentic home Subban jersey. I always hated the new reds and told myself I would never get one which is why I have a few new white ones, but for some reason that 76 and Subban on the red looks so damn good. Couldn’t pass it up. Also got 30% off on cool hockey so thats helps. :snide:

When you say special, what exactly do you mean? Because Jeremy Davies in all likelihood isn't going to be a top pairing defenseman.

I work with two other Devils fans. Everyone was smiles and high-fives today.

My bosses who don't follow hockey at all tried to talk about it this morning with me. But since I knew the conversation was going to die shortly thereafter, I just said thanks and walked out.

It's a lonely existence being the only hockey fan in the office.

convert them

They'll never be hockey fans. True story, before I started here they had season tickets in a box for the Devils. They would drive out there to eat and drink the free food and drinks (according to them) and leave after the first period.

I'll never forgive them for that.

Same here, I'm the only hockey fan in my office

There are some Flyers "fans" around the building but they know less about their alleged team than I do, and they know nothing about any other team

One guy told me twice already how he's so bummed Gudas is gone...which tells you all you need to know. Nothing about the team's draft or offseason, just that he misses Gudas.

It's a good sign for our popularity if a non-hockey guy is trying to talk hockey with you. As for the lonely existence, that's what you got HFBoards for

My issue with the trade isn't who was traded. More that it was a player got traded soon after signing. Like someone mentioned earlier, this will most likely affect Walsh.

if he doesn't re-sign with us, i feel like you and others will point to this being a reason why, but it's just a strawman argument. using absolutes is kind of unfair

it's not like it was a sideways trade, sending him to a place where he can't succeed. We actually had a pipeline issue on the left side with smith AND davies coming up - this trade not only cleared that issue, but was a trade that anyone would understand.

I bought a white Rebok back in 2017 before the change was made, I was going to put Nico on it but never got around to it. Was thinking about doing Hughes but now Subban is a real possibility. wtf do i do pls help

Habs fan here coming to congratulate you guys on the big trade. You literally traded a bag of pucks for a defender who will change your entire franchise for the better I just hope you all realise how lucky you are.

There's as much evidence to say it affects him in a positive way (clearing out a roadblock to playing and eventually getting dealt off anyway) as there is it won't. I really don't think this kind of thing would even register with a kid like Walsh unless he has the same agent as Davies. Davies could just as easily have been dealt two years ago while still in college, lots of kids get dealt before they hit the NHL and before they have FA rights - so some seventh-rounder gets dealt after playing up his value and signing an ELC, it's life in the big city. This isn't the same thing as the Flyers dealing off Richards and Carter months after signing the rest of their careers away before their NTC's kicked in - which didn't even affect them one iota in terms of bringing in FA's.

Yea I agree saying that this is why Walsh left is silly, but...if I was a college player and saw my club that drafted me trade someone they just signed, you'd bet for sure I'd just go to FA.

I think Walsh would understand that this was the exception, not the rule. The Devils aren't trading recently signed players willy-nilly, and it's not like they swapped Davies for AHL depth, he was traded for an elite defenseman.
