Yes.

1:33 per game this season.
2:40 the previous season.

He's also been heavily relied upon playing with a lead.

Thought that was the case. Wasn't he deployed in quite a defensive role in terms of assignment as well?

Offensive Zone starts was 44% last year. 53% this year.

So in previous seasons he was used almost like a defensive specialist. And I assume his matchups were right there as well. But much easier minutes this past season. Which points toward the injury imo.

So the question now is, can he regain his form?

I think Carrick is already gone...

There is room for only one of Carrick or Mueller...and Carrick needs to go.

I think the starting left side in order is Greene, Smith and Butcher.

We are going to be relying pretty heavily on Smith as a rookie it seems...me personally, I think there should be a back up plan in place in case Smith can't handle that load in his rookie season which is a very real possibility. So I think that means Mueller is the man and the 7th and Carrick is gone.
Greene can not, under any circumstance play top pairing minutes or else this team is in trouble. Especially with the significant pk time he'll undoubtedly be tasked with.

As I've stated, I strongly believe that Smith must be tossed on to the left side with Subban and think the potential is electrifying. Could Ty ask for a better mentor? He was pissed about not making the team last year and Ray saw it fit to bring him to the draft and hang with Jack for a bit.

Trial by fire and I'm all about it given the kids talent, resume, and potential.

I think McAvoy/Chara is a perfect example of how this could work for the Devils in 19-20.

Dunno if it’s been answered yet but hopefully one of you can answer it.

1. What PP unit was Subban in with Nash?

2. Did he see any PK time on either Nash or Mtl?

Legit questions I’m not sure about. My reason is if he is given an expanded 1PP role his number could easily go up. Also if he has the PK time he might be able to handle that 2PK role.

I have some penalty kill minutes above.

PP minutes:

2:34 this past season.
3:05 the season before.

So yeah, heavy PP minutes as well, though that too shrunk a bit.

I nearly canceled my season tickets this season, but god I'm so glad I didn't. I love PK so much.

See, this is the kind of value he brings. I'm sure there will be similar stories to this. This will be his biggest impact, and that's so valuable.

I agree. With someone like Subban (if he's healthy), I think Smith can handle the top pair. It's not like there's any other options atm. Greene is not better than Smith right now, and if he is....I'm worried.

He's exactly the kind of dynamic persona, coupled with genuine altruism, that you want representing your team too. Especially a team that could really use the help getting local recognition.

So let me see if I'm correct here :

If PK wasn't traded for and it was just Jack Hughes (for example), you would've canceled your season tickets?:huh::huh:

Incorrect.
I already renewed my tickets. I was somewhat regretting it, but I love PK Subban so I am now delighted I get to see him live all the time.

Don't forget, Subban would be the best Dman Greene has maybe ever played with.
Even at his age, he may be able to manage top pairing minutes with Subban, at least for half the year while Smith gets his feet under him.
