Does this make Vatanen or Severson available? Bet you could get a good return with one of those players with how slim the RHD market is.

Really excited to watch the Devils next season with the likes of Hall, Hischier, Palmieri, Hughes, and now Subban... At such a low cost. Well done, you guys had cap space at the right time. Schneider and Blackwood just need to play some great hockey and you're golden.

Severson I highly doubt it, but I think we'd absolutely consider trading Vatanen for a comparable left-handed defenceman to balance things out a little.

This is exactly where I'm at. I think we have guys similar enough to Vatanen and having a top 4 right side of Subban and Severson is strong enough. Trade Vatanen for help on the left side if it's available, hell I'd even add a little bit for an upgrade.

How is Davies? What I've been reading on him was he would of got the chance to be on your nhl roster this year as a 3rd pairing. Could he be good enough to be on the preds 3rd pair
We were pretty high on him (and Walsh), but the Devils are also very thin on the left side.

Then again you guys are wizards at developing your blue line so I would be hopeful in him eventually reaching his ceiling with the Preds - #3-4 I believe.

I was going to say:

Or Butcher goes to RD on the 3rd pair?

Mueller Subban
Smith Sev's
Greene Butcher

But then I remembered Vat's.

Carrick is still out there too.

Still hard to figure. Another trade maybe?
I think Carrick is already gone...

There is room for only one of Carrick or Mueller...and Carrick needs to go.

I think the starting left side in order is Greene, Smith and Butcher.

We are going to be relying pretty heavily on Smith as a rookie it seems...me personally, I think there should be a back up plan in place in case Smith can't handle that load in his rookie season which is a very real possibility. So I think that means Mueller is the man and the 7th and Carrick is gone.

That would mean one of Greene, Butcher or Smith sits.

From the looks of things I don't see how Mueller could possibly be anything more than the 7th man at this point?

in any case its a nice problem... that is a very minuscule left side ... mueller brings a bit of size i still think he can be a solid #4/5 player mueller.. garrick is good to have around as well our defense is looking way better today

I’m not sure about that honestly. The Devils have been known to hold on to 8 Dman. There isn’t much in the AHL at the moment to come up for an injury replacement. I can see them holding on to Carrick as an 8th Dman option. He won’t be expensive and if he doesn’t work out you waive him no harm no foul. He provide you with a player who is right handed and played 200 NHL games. He’s young and can skate. Not a bad option to have.

I honestly think Butcher may be the odd man out. Trade bait perhaps?

PK and Sami have the point covered and Greene isn't sitting. Mueller's certainly not as sexy, but he balances out the pairings better. I imagine anywhere from a 50-50 to 70-30 split between the two in Kirk's favor.

devils may now have the strongest RD's in the league.. 1-3..

Dunno if it’s been answered yet but hopefully one of you can answer it.

1. What PP unit was Subban in with Nash?

2. Did he see any PK time on either Nash or Mtl?

Legit questions I’m not sure about. My reason is if he is given an expanded 1PP role his number could easily go up. Also if he has the PK time he might be able to handle that 2PK role.

yeah i liked him last year for his limited role.. this team is stacked with depth at many positions...
