Well if he was still a Norris contender, would he get traded for a bag of pucks?

The guy is 30 years old, not 37.Doug Harvey won his first of seven Norris trophies at age 30.Defensemen can age like good wine.Everything Scott Stevens did for you guys in the playoffs happened after age 30.

So Subban getting traded for virtually nothing at that age is not exactly reflecting highly on him, is it?

its reflecting on A) the Preds wanted cap space for a big time forward like DUchene and B) there aren't many teams that could take the full cap hit. The Devils were one of them.

the end. This "Subban character assassination" stuff needs to end.

There is absolutely no logic in trading a Norris-level defenseman to ''make room on the cap''.If Subban was playing at peak level the Preds would keep him.

One of my favorite videos, the tribute Montreal gave him when he returned for the first time.

Have always loved the guy. His passion, his character and his skill. I truly believe he is going to be a good guy to add to this locker room in a lot of ways. I will never, in a million years, buy the bullshit that Montreal sold on him. Listen to the crowd's reaction to him to just understand simply how much he was loved by that team's fans. They knew he wanted to be there, and the good that he did for that city.

This is so incredible that he's going to be a Devil. No one can put a damper on this move for me in my eyes.

And now instead of the Devils getting Bobby Brink, he's going directly to one of the biggest rivals, the Flyers. Add that "cost" to the Subban trade too.

Why do you always have to be so negative?

We got an impact defenseman for a bag of beans. This move alone with the Hughes addition not only makes us a playoff team but a cup contender, immediately.

Brink will be a bust.

His "reputation" stems from the fact he's confident in himself and his abilities and has no problem being outspoken. His interviews and personality is a breath of fresh air, something the NHL could use A LOT more of to grow the game. Some people don't like this. Hockey players are "supposed" to be robotic and bland. Don't speak your mind. Just shut up and play the game.

As someone who became a devils fan after the devils were already relevant....getting Hall and Subban through trades...it's incredible.

I have no problem with Subban personally. But right now he should be a Norris contender every year with his natural talent, this is not the case. You decide for yourself why he's been traded twice between the age of 25-30.

I wish he can put it all together and come back as a great player.

I think this helps prove to hall that shero is addressing the lack of d, and other talent issues. Should be a busy offseason for shero, hall imo extends before pre season.

Also glad they drafted a goalie... Schneider is on a decline, both age wise and play wise, and I still believe blackwood played above his level last year. Hes by far better then cory even at a lesser level then last season. Johnson is the next in line, but needs work.

Good start imo for the offsesosn, even though some complain bc they don't know the guys drafted

It's not only that but the fact the guy is painted as toxic when every real indication is that he is anything but.

It is a complete and utter load of BS.

there isn't 1 reason that he was traded. Thats lazy narrative.

Couple my points with the fact that NSH needs to sign Josi to an extension and already has 2 other good DMan (with Fabbro coming) and there are your reasons.

true, i forgot to consider what doug harvey did in the 1950’s. maybe we can flip subban for a 6th round pick?

Sounds like someone else we drafted yesterday

I'd rather lean toward the scale end of confident and/or cocky than have players unsure of themselves

Like I said, I wish him and you guys the best.

But just as it's easy to call him a lockerroom cancer, it's also easy to dismiss all the rumors as people hating him for being ''outspoken'' (read black).

How about Scott Stevens? Is that too prehistoric for you? Everything he did in the playoffs in NJ was post-age 30.

honestly i don’t even know what your point is. are you saying we shouldn’t have traded for him because the price was relatively low? do you know how flawed that thinking is? we shouldn’t have traded larsson for hall either, i guess?

i’d like to work in a gump worsley reference but i don’t know how

Not my point at all.

This is obviously a hell of a trade for you guys.

I was just laying out the situation as I was seeing it: Subban is a mystery right now, he should be a Norris contender.Even if he's just a good #2, it's still a good trade. He is a clutch player but a bad clock player, and his off-ice personality might be a distraction depending whether we believe what we hear or not.I was presenting my general thought as a MTL fan.

The point is Subban is only 30 years old and defensemen can age like wine moreso than forwards. He could still put it all together and have many consecutive years as a Norris contender.

Same thing was said about Hall. Look what Shero and Hynes did there.
