Owen Sound Attack 2024-25 Season, Part I

Have to keep pointing out how good the Smith/Bleicher pair continues to be. Plus three again tonight, both making smart, strong plays to create offence and good breakouts. They've hardly been out for a goal against this year.

Nansi's breakout continues, he's going to be a handful for teams for years.

Already enjoying this team so much more than last year's edition. Wray has brought back that blue collar mentality to thks team in just 7 games.
There will be some decisions to be made on the blueline when Bedkowski is ready.
By all accounts he is a top 4.

I like Bleichers game.
And G Smith is starting to Excell with regular playing time .

The team is ahead of where I thought they'd be early in the season .

I am lost as to who they could possibly not dress from the Defensive group once ‘The Big Bedkowski’ (not the big Lebowski, the big BEDKOWSKI) comes back. Maybe a rotation of Bleicher, Smith, Arnett? It’s hard to think that any of those guys would sit for a significant period of time throughout the season.

No idea why Oshawa traded away Bedkowski, highly underrated player, and underplayed for two seasons, but if you guys would like to give him back to Oshawa, we sure could use him. And Delisle!

And 1/2 price pizza on Tues. I was thinking last week we might not see that to often this season and the boys go out and nail it for us. Good to chat last night are you sitting in those seat all the time?
Haha I was thinking the same thing. They scored 6 in Niagara on the road and I thought it could be awhile before we see that again and they deliver the next night at home.

Good chatting with you as well. I don't have season seats but I generally try and sit in that area. Seems to be a little extra leg room, can see the benches and watch the Attack shoot twice a game.

Could be an unpopular opinion but I think the move I'd make is to keep the D pairings the same and just swap Bedkowski for Rogers. Arnett has already shown he can play and make an impact. The G.Smith and Bleicher pairing has performed well and I'd leave it alone.

That's not to say Rogers has necessarily been bad but the competition has been better. They've tried to use Rogers on the PP as QB but to me, when the puck is on his stick he tends to slow down. Petrovski is a much better fit in that role. Rogers of late has been shifted to PP2 which I think Bleicher could take that over. Rogers has also made a few pretty glaring defensive mistakes.

It probably ends up in some sort of a rotation I would imagine though, similar to what they are doing with the 13th and 14th forwards. I'd prefer that over having someone sit for an extended stretch. I think the coaching staff has done a nice job keeping everyone involved to this point.

Agreed . Tough decision.
It's been a while since we've been in this position .
I would be extremely surprised if Bleicher ever sits .
As an import, they and him want him in the ice .

The swap with Rogers is definitely interesting. I just think his offensive ability from the back end might be worth too much to keep out of the line up. Has about as many assists as games started and while I think his defensive zone play is not perfected yet, I think he’s made strides at closing gaps and winning 1 on 1 battles with on-coming forwards. This is the perfect example (in my opinion) of a ‘good problem’ to have.

Sorry I meant this as a response to Stellar29 🤝

I agree, it's not a good idea to be sitting Bleicher. It's in everyone's best interests to develop someone with his talents and I think the thing that helps the most with him specifically is playing. The reps in the North American style of hockey will be key for him to get comfortable.

I don't disagree on that sentiment. It's certainly a trade off they'd have to be comfortable making. It's a tough decision but it seems it is till a couple weeks away from needing to be made. For me, the more Arnett has played the better he looks. The typical obvious solution in this sort of scenario would be to take out the 16 year old rookie but he's really impressed in the early going. I really like the pieces on this year's blueline and the fact there is no obvious top 6 at this point I think is a testament to the talents the team has put together. There's going to be somebody who doesn't deserve to sit not playing every night once everyone is healthy. As you said, it's definitely a good problem to have.

I couldn’t have worded it better myself 🤝.
Side note: I know I can be annoying on here at times but I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, I am extremely grateful for this team and for all the people within the community who make it so very special.

Glad to see he found somewhere to play Major Junior in his OA year. GL Taos!

Delisle has been great for the Attack, today is playing 2C in North Bay.

We can't wait till Bedkowski is ready. The Attack blueline is coming together nicely.

I'd love to see Max get some PP time .
Maybe that is the plan, for now have him watch and learn .
Let's not forget he's got 7 games experience.

The coaches seem to be good at putting guys in good situations .

The more I watch this team, the more I think they've assembled a good group.
Including the coaches.

No, really, we would like those two players back lol good luck Owen sound, this season.

Nansi is a fun player. He's pretty raw but there's a lot of tools in a big 6'3" frame that make for a pretty intriguing player.

I'm a fan of Gabe Smith. He skates well and competes hard in the difficult parts of the rink. He can make a pretty decent first pass out of the zone on a breakout too.
Nansi is a 2026 draft eligible kid too. Big things coming out of him.

He's eligible this year. He'll be one of the youngest players in the draft class though as his September 10th birthday is 5 days from sliding to 2026 with the September 15th cut off. I could see him being a big riser this year depending on how he progresses. He's got a lot of growth left to do, both in his frame and his game, but pair that with the size and skating and he could be a very interesting player. The only real knock I think you could put on him is he doesn't really show any bite. He's not in any way shy about getting into the dirty areas of the ice or playing the body but he's not one to engage in any extra curriculars. Scouts generally want a little bit of that with guys his size but the rest of the tool kit looks awfully intriguing.
