I agree that Hunt is a very good GM, which is why I was surprised that he would overpay for Barlow and leave the roster with so many glaring holes. Taking direction from a meddling owner would explain that stupidity.
Barlow did not look good last night. Maybe it was first game jitters and being nervous about the pressure of playing for a contender, but he had a rough game. Particularly when he was trying to play the point - - a Niagara player blew past him and walked in on Oster, then a brutal giveaway gave Niagara a short handed breakaway in the dying seconds of the 1st period.
Speaking of being short handed, it’s obvious that Oshawa now has a glaring lack of depth on the blueline. Svozil was God-awful and continues to struggle, while Rodriguez still isn’t ready to be playing at this level. Even D’Amato played poorly in the first two periods, although he was better in the 3rd.
Oshawa is badly lacking a tough physical defenceman who plays a nasty game. Which is exactly what David Bedkowski is.
Another major problem for Oshawa was face offs. Losing 60% of the draws is horrifically bad, and that’s what the Generals were last night - - 29 for 72. Griffin was consistently out muscled on the draw and beyond him there was little to nothing. Getting Ritchie back will help - - as will Roobroeck - - but Oshawa really lacks a dependable face off specialist.
Meanwhile, Delisle was 15 for 21 on face offs in his debut with Owen Sound. Who knew! Not bad for a guy described by a few people here as nothing more than a “4th line C”.
With the overall long term results he's had and the summer and early season this year I think you can safely tell your friend "When he wants it to end"
The Attacks owners are happy your owner is happy.
why are you posting Gens stuff on the OS page??? Roobroeck won’t be back!! Had great camp and looked good playing with Othman. Hartford is very excited to have them together. Very rarely and OA that’s signed ever comes back.

Roobroeck has the size too and worked on his skating lots last season. Was dominating in the playoffs too.
I don’t think he’s back. I would give kasper haltunnen better odds of being back over roobroeck
Had to do with the verbal altercation he had that ended with him getting a game misconduct.
Mccue refused to leave the tunnel and was arguing with the refs after being told he was kicked out resulting in 2 games not just 1

I am willing to bet that Bedkowski and DeLisle are going to do really well, probably toxic coaching for the last two years at Oshawa. But, we still have to remain generals fans.
It was not a fun game to watch last night.

I have ZERO doubt that Bedkowski and Delisle will both do extremely well with Owen Sound - - just as they would have done extremely well in Oshawa.
Both are hard work high character players and it would not surprise me in the least to see both of them get drafted.
I can assure you there was no “coaching issue” in Oshawa with either of them. Both played a consistent and regular shift last year. Delisle was Oshawa’s rookie of the year last season. After Punnett got hurt, Bedkowski was eating over 25 minutes of ice time every game.
It was just a horribly misguided overpay for Barlow - - which is what I’ve been explaining since the ridiculous trade was first mentioned by a wannabe “insider”.
Maybe it was a rare lapse in judgment by GM Roger Hunt or maybe he was pressured into making the deal by someone higher up in the organization. Regardless, it was a horrible overpay.
I can tell you Attack fans are overjoyed with the way things turned out and are optimistic for our teams future.
Delisle was solid in his home debut tonight .
A real firecracker
Hockey is a game of bounces and sometimes they go in your favor and sometimes not. Kitchener gets a favorable bounce late that George wasn't ready for and it was the difference maker. Tough way to lose but I'm sure that at some point this year they'll end up on the other end of it.

As a Kitchener fan I'm very much in agreement. They just played Flint the night before, outplayed them for long stretches, and couldn't buy a bounce. The team needed one badly. Good luck this year in Attack land.

I’m sure there’s probably a few who are lamenting the loss of Captain Barlow - - just like there’s a few in here who declared Bedkowski to be a third pairing defenceman and Delisle to be nothing more than a 4th line centre - - but eventually they’ll all come to acknowledge what a fleecing this trade was for Owen Sound.
That goal by Delisle last night was the perfect epitome of the player he is. Harmless dump in to the offensive zone and the Brantford defenceman is coasting back waiting for the period to end but Delisle busts his ass to get to the puck first and unexpectedly fires home a last second goal.

Got to my first in person viewing of the season and some thoughts from what was a heartbreaking finish:
- for a young team with so many new guys, the way all four lines attack with speed, and also aggressively defend the neutral zone was really impressive and really evident. Already a clear and visible shift from last season, almost everyone looked sharp;
- I thought both our imports had quiet nights, especially Varosyan who had some pop in the first but struggled after that. Bleicher is real steady and I was surprised he sat so much in the third;
- I thought Gabe Smith looked really good and he was rewarded with more ice in the third. Saw that too with Nansi and Tersigni where hard work and winning shifts led to more ice;
- And the biggest concern Ive seen is the play of our new top pairing. All three goals last night off bad decisions from K Smith and Petrovski. It's clear K Smith is trying to push for more offence (with some success) but he lacks the skating and passing to make up for his mistakes. If this team is going to be competitive, guys with their experience level have to make better decisions and they know it.
Overall though it was a lot of positives. I feel better about this team than at any point last year. Goals will be hard to come by but as some of the young, dynamic talents get their feet under them (Mbuyi, Varosyan, Delisle), I expect that to improve.

DeLIsle and Bedkowski are happy,Colby is happy. Can't speak for Oshawa but Attack fans are very happy with what we're seeing. Time to move forward and enjoy watching some exciting hockey!

I'm not losing sight of a lot of firsts for everyone, including 6 and 28 in new leadership roles .
I think they may have tried to do 'too much' in their debut as captains.
The nice thing is, coach has already identified things and they will start to address them Monday.
I'm looking at this season as a rebuild, there will be lots of nights like Saturday where they fall short.
The positive is the group has so much potential and hope and things seem to be coming together quickly.
Can't wait to see David Bedkowski in the lineup, and a bit of competition for the 6 spot on the blueline.
Of course I think that will come down to 4 and 5, both capable of playing .

Donnie I keep hearing you say delisle is a 4th line centre and bedkowski a 3rd pair d man. Who on earth exactly said that?? I don’t remember.
Anyone that said that loses all credibility as they clearly haven’t ever watched either of them.
I don't know how the D battle is going to play out but the boys are making it an awfully difficult decision. It's tough to pick but for me, if it's between Arnett and G.Smith I'd give a very slight edge to Smith. I suspect we may get a bit of a rotation until someone locks it down. Nice thing is they have a bit of time to evaluate before they need to make any decisions. I really like the pieces this year on the blueline.
