I don't think it's so much an individual player problem as much as a lack of communication on coverage. The goalie can help with communicating with the D partners as well as the D partners communicate with each other on coverages. In this case the open player was in front of the Attack bench, they had opportunity to communicate as well. I guarantee you this will be discussed this week. Defense is a total team effort and communication is a big part of that. Sometimes in hockey you need to make mistakes in order to learn, some lessons may be harder than others but the team will grow and be better for it.Not sure he was out of position...other guy...Sam tried to recover
soft call by the refs, great tilt, Stewart has to be the most sportsmanlike fighter in the OHL. Always gives a pat to the guy afterwards, including this one, LOL. He has been playing great, hopefully he doesn't regress during his suspension.Apparently the league didn't like the old school center ice scrap from last night. Both combatants picked up 3 game bans. Shame for Stewart as he's been playing great lately. I thought they may let that slide as it didn't take place immediately off the face off but no dice.

The suspension isn't an unsportsman thing in the leagues attempt to remove fighting a suspension comes after a staged fight. They were talking before faceoff. I agree with Mark McKelvie's tongue in cheek comment " They should have slashed each other then dropped the mitts and had at it" I to hope Jackson just laughs it off he has been playing his role very effectively in fact in the Flint game one could argue he was our best player. For sure one of the players coach said came to play.soft call by the refs, great tilt, Stewart has to be the most sportsmanlike fighter in the OHL. Totally agree. Giving credit where it's due Easton Cowan is very good at drawing the attention of the opposition and smart enough to know where the open man is. I think our guys realized what was happening but a little late. Not to throw anyone under the bus but Carter probably was also to focused on Cowan and leaning to play that side. I agree they will watch the video and address what happened. It's all about learning. I call hockey the game of mistakes unfortunately sometimes they cost at least the point if not the game.I don't think it's so much an individual player problem as much as a lack of communication on coverage. Good article, kid is a great kid and loved by his teammates. He can play too, as we have seen in the last ten games. Nice to see him get some loveGood write up from Greg Cowan with Jackson Stewart.

Easy player to root for, never takes a night off.I like Jackson's game and attitude.
We could use a few more like him .
Yikes Dale's got some work to do.. this team is no where near going for it like many thought they were at the start of the season..
I don't want to see the Kitchener approach from last season where they bought from the bottom of the standings. If the players don't turn it around in the next month I don't see how you could justify buying at the deadline. I hate to say it but if they stay a fringe playoff team into December they need to seriously consider selling. The 07 group looks solid so far, you would have to consider building with George's 19 year old season in mind moving forward as the next competitive window. There are so many grads at the end of the year and I don't think you've got enough in the 05 group outside of Barlow and Petrovski for next season that they may even want to consider the market on Barlow as painful as that may be.The defensive zone awareness isn't there, for a mostly ' veteran ' blueline, that's unacceptable.
After the quarter pole we know what this team is .
The players know as well.
It's unfortunate that here we are, yet again in November, talking about a sell off.I don't want to see the Kitchener approach from last season where they bought from the bottom of the standings. Some rather spicy comments from the coaches in the Greg Cowan post game write up talking about how they can't game plan work ethic. It's on the players to show up every night. This was a problem last year too where they took too many periods or even games off. This team has a lot of work to do if they want to just get to the 30 win milestone this year.

If I didn't know better I would think you were a buddy we had this exact conversation last night. As painful as it would be it might be the best option Dale could setup the foreseeable future quite nicely.I don't want to see the Kitchener approach from last season where they bought from the bottom of the standings. I feel like that's going to be a common fan sentiment if the team doesn't start showing some signs of life in the near future. Even though they lost Saturday I thought that was a glimpse of the type of team the Attack could be, which should win their fair share of games, but that team doesn't show up with any kind of consistency and certainly not for a full 60 minutes. I really don't understand how they start slow so often. It seems like the team is built like an old diesel engine and takes a period to get warmed up lol. Baffling to me how a team of teenagers, full of piss and vinegar, doesn't come out firing on all cylinders. If I did

After this weekend a road trip to Windsor, Sarnia and Flint .I feel like that's going to be a common fan sentiment if the team doesn't start showing some signs of life in the near future. If Dale does shift to sellers, Sedley(2nd and 3rd?) and Goure(3rd and 5th?) would be attractive OAs, especially Sedley as the D market doesn't seem all that great currently. Guindon should get a good return, somewhere in the two 2nds and three 3rds territory I would think. Maybe somebody sees value in Petrovsky though imports don't typically go for much. How far do they sell would be the questions. Barlow could fetch a king's ransom as an elite 05. Owen Beck for comparison went for the #6 overall 06 born, an 04 former 2nd rounder, two 2nd round picks, a third and fourth round pick.
The team has a steep hill to climb to get out of the cellar at this point. I think after the Mississauga game this weekend they have a run of games through to December 3rd that they have a chance to show if they're worth taking a run with. I think after December 3rd you know confidently what direction to take the team in terms of buyers or sellers. The onus is on the players at this point to show that they want it.
I think the goaltending is fine. Votary can be better and George is a capable starter. I think the forward group is better than they've shown. The D group is really weak. They do a brutal job protecting the net front. Nobody boxes out or ties up sticks very well. Too much puck watching. I'd personally like to see Smith over Steen right now who seems overmatched most nights. I don't know what you do with Waddick but two assists through 16 games is immensely disappointing. After this weekend a road trip to Windsor, Sarnia and Flint .
There are no easy weeks for a group that is finding new ways to lose.
By my count there's a core of 8 players .
There's just way too many question marks .
They're (at least) a goalie, dman and top 6 forward away from solid .
If they got them there's no trade capital left to bring in elite depth to challenge
Despite the 'talent' today I'm skeptical they will win 30 games
