If we only knew...Two seasons ago Flint played you guys to 7 games in round 1. For reference if Brennan Othmann doesn’t blow it while in alone in OT of Game 6, they’re in the Finals that year. I just remember being so impressed with Owen Sound that year and everybody I hang out with at games (ex-players, current players, successful youth coaches, parents of NCAA players) all of them agreeing “I wouldn’t want to run into them in the playoffs the next two years.” It just shocks me that DeGray wasn’t able to put it together for at least one of the last two seasons. There was so much potential. To be fair…many teams, Flint included have also totally blown it over that time but I was really hoping that during a Flint off year I would be able to cheer a deep Attack run.
230Sounds like an announcement coming for a delayed start due to travel/weather related delays. Game time likely being moved to 3pm.
Officially 3pm start now. I'm surprised they travelled at all. Looked like all the highways out of Owen Sound were closed this morning.230 start, but it'll be 3.
(Don't ask)
If main roads are closed then call off the game. We don't need another Swift Current tragedy - ever! It's not like this storm came out of nowhere.Likely due to the main roads being closed
One of Fred Wallace's pet peeves over the years is that the league doesn't ask about the conditions in areas like Owen Sound for the visitors who have to drive to the location, they only care about the conditions in the location. Been that way for a few years,If main roads are closed then call off the game. We don't need another Swift Current tragedy - ever! It's not like this storm came out of nowhere.
How do3s the refereeing even come up 10-0 was over after the first tbh. Votary looked annoyed he was left in there in the 3rd didn't really compete to make a saveReally feel bad for the team today. Reefing was so so. delay of game due to weather
His defensemen didn't compete for the whole game. How do3s the refereeing even come up 10-0 was over after the first tbh. Votary looked annoyed he was left in there in the 3rd didn't really compete to make a save
Unfortunate OS couldn't make the call and drive up the night before. Ottawa seemed to arrive in Kitchener without issue. This was a game that should have been re-scheduled. It put the team at a disadvantage having played the night previous, then having lousy/dangerous road conditions to deal with. The weather network and the MTC both give road reports, and the bus drivers should have the final call as to if and when a journey is unsafe. Taking back roads to circumvent road closures shouldn't ever be an option.
The Knights organization I'm sure, wouldn't have made any objection to a re-scheduled game, and it would have been reciprocated were the situation reversed.
Sure, there was a lop-sided game, but I've got to believe that in this situation, the weather delay contributed to the outcome.
Kudos to the Attack for showing up, and trying.
Per Sam McCue - OS bus driver took a wrong road and got stuck turning around on ice in a drive way for about an hour. What in the world are they taking back roads in weather like this? Huge red flag.
Owen Sound wasn't going to Kitchener.Unfortunate OS couldn't make the call and drive up the night before. Ottawa seemed to arrive in Kitchener without issue.
Both teams are driving the 6 no matter what though right? Unless they take the 10 to Kitchener? Beyond that, I actually prefer the 23 to most highways in Southern Onatrio. Well maintained because it's used heavily. Either way, unfortunate that they had to deal with that.Owen Sound wasn't going to Kitchener.
The roads from Owen Sound to London can have far different
weather conditions.
And for the record, I drove home after last night's game in OS white outs and heavy drifting in places. Glad both teams made their destination safely.
Keep your thoughts with the Attack who are still on the road as I type . Lots of road closures in Grey County.
