I see him as a middle six type who will chip in with some offense and hopefully be a key contributor on the PK and take some of the tough defensive responsibilities in our zone. He and Bryant would be a tough match up for teams on a checking line or late in a game protecting a lead. I think it will be a nice fit and the cost was very reasonable. Hopefully he can find his way to Sarnia for tomorrow's game.
I will admit I got caught up in the Avery Hayes Georgie Diaco rumours so this took me off guard. After some thought and watching a little bit of Niagras last game and what I can remember of Papais I like this add. We have a solid 200 ft winger who can move up or down the lineup where he's needed but doesn't mess up lines 1A or 1B. Paired with Bryant and I think I like Brennan they could be one miserable line to have to play against. The real clincher for me is this turns out to be basically a Papais for Okie deal leaving any assets Dale had set aside for a deal still here for another move if he sees fit.

Certainly a good pick up in Papais. I liked his game when he was with the Storm and should bring a bit more options up front with us.

Interesting little side-note DD goes after another player who was a captain for the Mississauaga Reps AAA in his draft year in 2018 when the Storm selected him 127th overall. Management likes going after those leadership types and Papais fits that bill.

To Date

Goure, Cormier, Guindon, Bryant, Burroughs, Barlow, and Papais were all either captains or assistant captains in their OHL draft years.
Papais was not the captain of the Reps

Read the posting more closely, as I stated they were captains or assistant captains.

Papais falls under an assistant when he was with the Reps.

He was an assistant captain, with Owen Power obviously wearing the C
Like I stated in my original post on how they were either lettered 'C or 'A in their draft year. I never said he was the Captain.

Tonight's game was pretty evenly matched plus minus the puck luck that the Sting got.

When you only get 4 chances in a 20 minute span that shows how well your opponent made adjustments in the later stages of the game.

Unfortunately sometimes you come up short on the final result safe to say that tonight was one of those nights. By no means is it time to panic just yet it's a long season and there's guys still getting their feet wet and used to playing with each other. Papais it's only his first game with new guys and Sawyer has only had a couple weeks of games with the team. Every team in the league say for the exception to one is still working the kinks out right now. We're no different than most of the teams right now in the league.

Just have to be patient like the players and watch the development side of the of the season play itself out for now. Development is sometimes painful to watch but the end result is and will be worth it for this team this year.

When you say he was a captain, nobody thinks you are talking about assistant captain. If that is what you meant, I suggest being much more clear about it.

Hamilton
I know a bit late on posting this, but was there a reason the Attack were so eager to fight and take penalties vs Hamilton? I was at the game (the guy who doubled as the Bulldogs Goalhorn) and I was left perplexed as to why Owen Sound was so aggressive vs the Bulldogs.

I think Hamilton should expect that this season. They have a target on them being the defending league champs. Teams will try and play outside their games to beat the champs. Essentially, they are a measuring stick this year.

As far as the rough stuff goes, Owen Sound typically does try and play a physical, in your face style. Hamilton being a veteran team understood where the line was and Owen Sound crossed it.

Seed threw one of the best hits I've seen in awhile on Namestnikov last night. Was an absolute beauty. For as long as I can remember u guys are always really physical especially on the backend. One of the reasons I look forward to u guys coming to town! Haha.

I think you mean Steen -#5 ?

Seed, Steen, Sedley, Sawyer, Schweingruber, all D on this year's roster, along with Jordan, Uens, and Rogers .

Now that was a great road game by the Attack! Terrific to continue the Rangers' misery (and crazy to think what the score might've been without Constantini in net for them).

Barlow was dominant last night and hopefully that's a breakout game for him. What a special talent we've got in Owen Sound.

Barlow really needed a night like last night. He was all over the puck, shooting with no hesitation, lots of good looks. That's his best game of the season and hopefully he can string a few together and get rolling.

Nice to see Servac back in the line up last night. Papais had a nice game with Goure and Burroughs. I liked that line combo.

Cormier is due for a goal. He's had some great chances lately and either wiffed on it or had the puck bounce over his stick. He's looked good of late in my opinion.

We hit at least 5 posts, 2 during the 5 on 3 pp in the 3rd .

Chenard was a wall, had the glove working well.

Fun game to watch last night, team played well. Anyone know why #10 was stapled to the bench?

That was an awesome entertaining game. Love seeing another solid effort from Corbin Votary. The league is so competitive this year. A buddy and myself are convinced it's the double Covid drafts 2 yrs of players all developing at the same time. Not sure about 10 did he block a shot or something I missed?

Comments from the coaching staff would allude to more starts for Corbin this season. He looks strong so far and has earned it. It would be beneficial to keep Chenard from getting worn out from being overworked and be sharper when he plays.

I think playing 7 D instead of the traditional 6 means that they will likely trim down later in games to those who are playing the best that given night. Didn't see anything specific with Luc but likely just attributed to the numbers game.

Also, credit where credit is due, Nolan Seed has looked much better the last few games. He's simplified his game and not trying to be the offensive hero. His goal against Windsor was a nice read by him. He was clearly looking pass the whole way and when it didn't present itself he took the ice they were giving him and drove to the net and made a nice play instead of forcing something that wasn't there. If he can play that way with consistency the team would be very happy and provide some stability in the top 4 on the back end.

We may see a return to 6 d once Lawrence returns.
