This team can be so frustrating to watch, and it's becoming a broken record that when the offence struggles, it seems to be all up to Barlow. Guindon and Petrovsky are both guys who haven't taken big steps forward this season (in my opinion) and both have more to give in chipping in on goal scoring. Guindon may have more points than last year but he's on pace for way fewer goals than last year, which was his bread and butter skill coming into junior.

I have a lot of sympathy for Goure who has not been the same since the eye injury and it's been long enough now that it appears to have affected his playing - which is absolutely tragic for him after the strong fall he had.

When this team was buzzing in the fall and looking like a contender, they had guys stepping up and competing to be the guy carrying the offence and the goals seemed to come from all over the lineup. That's really dried up in the second half.

I've been consistently vocal with my criticism of the coaching staff and the personnel decisions around the team this year, but some of the guys definitely have more to give, and it's not clear what kind of pressure or incentive they need to get there.

It's disappointing that such a promising season is turning into a likely first round exit unless they finish hot. I don't want to be watching Barlow playing at the u18s.

I watched the game after we got punded yesterday by Saginaw. I see Stewart sitting on the bench??? I know he took a couple undisciplined penaltuies against London and a fight against Hamoilton, but why would you guys trade for him and sit him. He is one of the hardest workers out there. Anyway, if I had Hookey and him on the same team I would have them forechecking the opposition D all game. It looks like you guys trap every single time?? Odd
Unfortunately the answers you seek you won't find here.
All I can offer is inexplicable.

This is certainly not the 40 win/80 point season someone predicted in September.

I can understasnd the trap at times, protecting a lead for one. But the games I've seen you guys trap every single time. How do you generate turnovers? It would be easy as a dman to play against you guys, no pressure and you let us skate out of our zone every time. I don't have much good to say about our coach but at least we do forecheck hard. Seems like an odd system for the home rink you have and the size of some of your forwards

So when
Joey is a wonderful guy who would be the first to say, he is happy to be doing what he is now, and has no interest in stepping behind the Attack bench again .

Let's leave it at that .
you know he left because he was promised to be assistant GM and they kept promising him and never followed through right ? You speak as if you’re an insider for the attack……. I don’t blame him for leaving… walters and Dale need to go.. plain and simple

When Joey left he WAS Assistant GM. ...he left for a great offer from Adam Oates...Joey never had plans to be a coach in the OHL. .admin was his thing with a strong passion for skills development, which is the path he has taken. He and his dad have been back to the rink many many times for a visit. Don't speak as if YOU are an insider.....

Yup time for some kinda change. Can we maybe just bring back Hishon..
Agreed that change is needed. We only need to look towards Kitchener to see what a change in leadership can do for a team.
I'm not sure our bench boss is confident in himself at this point. Seems like he is drawing names from a hat to make lines every night. Won't deviate from the trap. Continues to play certain players that miss simple assignments on the ice. He seems to be coaching with desperation right now. Hopefully this can work itself out before playoffs.

I would like to hear from those who follow this team with stats and give us some insight on what we need to right this team. This team has some great talent, but something is going drastically wrong. Any comments from Degray?

First off no stats just gut feelings here. To see any change EVERYONE needs to do there job effectively. Even then with our schedule and the way the teams 5 thru 8 are playing even getting the 6 seed will be very tough. I say we get what we get. I know in my mind what I would like to see but I'm keeping that close to the vest and we will see. As has been noted something has happened to cause this team to go south and I hope I'm wrong but I don't see that being fixed in 9 gms. Just my opinion.

I've only watched your team since one of my favorites Stewart got traded there. I feel like there is no push or drive from this team. You trap every single time and no forecheck or pressure on the opposing D. They can skate the puck all the way to at least centre ice without any pressure. You have Lawrencde and hookey and Stewart who aren't allowed to use there body to be physical with the opposition. Chafe Tersigni Cormier, very small and intimidated. Goure stays out too long almost every shift and is in a sluimp. Barlow when he has time to shoot is deadly but if I am playing him , I'll be physical with him every night. Goaltending seems to be an issue. 2 of your Dmen are always up the ice and out of postion. I don't see every game but this is what I see. You are a team who is easily physically outmatched. Stewart did destroy Lukin last night though.

As a casual fan, your observations are pretty well spot on .

They have been trending the wrong way since game 20.

A strong start may have masked this for many casual fans .

The why is something for those above my pay grade .

Chenard had a very strong game last night. You have a very good skating team but too much of the offense is9 centered around Barlow. Guys need to shoot more. Stewart threw about 20 rights at Lukin but every one was off the back of the helmet! Ouch.

Need St.Mary’s to lose because our best goalie won’t be available until that happens, then hopefully Bryant returns to the line up soon. Lawrence has been a bust, #18 needs to find his scoring touch again. #9 should probably play forward. Wish we sold off some players like 25, 29, for some assets next year. Because let’s be real we aren’t winning it this year.

Every game the opposition goalie seems to be better. Key players slumping, d men always out position.
Gonna be a tough finish to this season.

I wonder how much of an impact Votary coming down with mono had with the team psyche. He last played February 8th in a 9-3 win over Niagara and they are 3W-8L since. The team had seemingly rallied around him a bit as the starter and had played some pretty big games with wins over some top teams like Peterborough and Ottawa with him in net. I have to imagine it was a bit of a gut punch.

The season has really unraveled in a hurry and hard to see it as anything but a disappointment at this stage. They've got a tough 9 games left on the schedule to figure it out before playoffs.

Taking a look through the numbers and the offense is incredibly cold. They are averaging 2.5 goals per game over the past ten games played and been shut out twice. Last ten games for the forward group:

Barlow - 7G 2A
Goure - 2G 1A
Guindon - 1G 3A
Petrovsky - 2G 2A
Lawrence - 4G 3A
Burroughs - 0G 1A
Hookey - 3G 2A
Papais - 3G 3A
Stewart - 1G 1A
Chafe - 1G 1A
Tersigni - 1G 2A
Cormier - 0G 0A

They need to find an offensive spark and get back on track. They are currently 8th out of 10 Western Conference teams for goal scoring which is pretty shocking considering the amount of fire power this team should have. The strength of this team was meant to be the goal scoring ability and as it's dried up, so have the wins.

Sadly they'll be missing 5G, 4 A this weekend .

I'm assuming that's in reference to Stewart and Lawrence. It looked like Lawrence went off hurt in the third period on Wednesday and didn't play another shift. He took some hard, awkward hits during the game that were a little concerning. Still no listing of Stewart's suspension on the OHL site oddly enough. Maybe they let him off the hook for the Roberts fight last Friday?

Apparently so . He's in the lineup.
Lawrence out. Sedley pencils in at LW
