This is one reason why I avoid predicting lines etc for the most part. At this age there 2 hard to predict. If the reports on Tony are correct he is a dog with a bone type comparable to Andrew Shaw so he may force his way into the top 6 hopefully LOL. This should be an interesting camp hopefully there are some newcomers who can put extreme pressure on some incumbents. I like Brennan and Chafe but Brennan probably needs to show more and with the Attacks apparent looking for size with there skill Chafe may be in tough
I've watched your team play and there is noone there similiar to Shaw, and Tony is the furthest from that. Good skater though,

all people in the league talk about is how hard the kid works, that in itself is similar to shaw, i remember thats what made him interesting when he was playing in quinte. no players in the ohl will be like shaw physically, but this kid has more natural talent and similar work ethic.

There's an interesting mix of newly drafted players coming in to camp that have the ability to shake things up and certainly push some returning players for opportunity. Addy at 6'5" and 205lbs as well as Crawford at 6'2" 170lbs(eliteprospects has updated height/weight since his draft at 6'1" 160lbs) have already signed and add the desired size as well as skill. Nansi at 6'2" 170lbs(updated on eliteprospects from 6'1" 165lbs at draft) as well as Prud'homme at 6'1" 190lbs are two more physically mature 07s that could challenge and push somebody off the roster. I don't think there's any room for complacency from the returning group as DeGray has always said if he has to make a move to accommodate a player forcing their way onto the team he'll happily do it.

Interesting to note about Sam Ethier is he earned the HEO U18 top defenseman award last season with 44 points. He's listed as 6'0 and 181lbs and could potentially be a found gem out of the U18 draft if he's able to crack the roster. Certainly the offensive abilities off the back end would be attractive.

Remember Andrews 2 yrs in Niagra he was only used as a shit disturber and overlooked in 2 NHL drafts. When he came here he got the chance to play a lot of important minutes and turned that into being drafted and a good albeit to short NHL career. I'm not saying Tony is Shaw all I'm saying is the puck is his bone and if your taking it away from him you may get bitten much like Andrew if he lost a puck battle the other guy needed ice packs.

Some interesting info from Dale DeGray in the Owen Sound Futures Watch piece on the OHL site. Said he wants to get Lucas Prud'homme into Owen Sound and signed as soon as possible. I guess the question becomes is it an A card or a B card? He's pretty high on him. Also mentions he thinks Nansi will see games with Owen Sound this season. Obviously he's pretty happy with his 07 draft class if he thinks there's that many who could impact this year's team, especially considering how few opportunities there appears to be.

With Dale having already signed three 07s and talking about both Nansi and Prud'homme as players with the Attack next season in some capacity, you'd have to expect some kind of movement with the roster. If both Nansi and Prud'homme are signed to B cards then maybe it's not as pressing but they do still have the ability to add one more 07 on an A card. There's a clear surplus at forward regardless. That is the most interesting camp battle going into next week in my opinion.

I think there is still a possible depth add on defense but not really a lot of obvious candidates at this point outside of Ethier. They could choose to start the season with 7D but with the injury issues experienced in recent seasons that would seem risky.

I wouldn't be surprised to Steen ask out, along with Chafe, possibly others
That would make some room

Steen needs to play better to be blunt. He regressed last year, while Petrovski and Jordan passed him with their progression and development.

I don't think Steen necessarily regressed last season as much as others just improved and passed him on the depth chart. He's missed big chunks of each of the past two seasons due to injury and struggled to get back up to speed when he returns. He's at his best when he's playing more assertive/aggressive. He can play too passively at times and I think he can definitely be better than he's shown so far. There could be a legitimate challenge this season if somebody doesn't perform. Smith is a day away from being an 06 with him being born January 1. With his size, if he transitions well to the league he profiles fairly similarly to somebody like Steen. Matejicek profiles similarly as well so it should be pretty solid internal competition for ice time on the back end this year I think.

Jordan and petrovski are timid and physically weak,Petrovski can move the puck and has some offensive ability Steen does for sure need to stay healthy but brings an element to the blue line that you don't have

If that's what you believe, then you do not watch the team nearly as much as you claim too, or you watch one player too much and ignore the rest of them. Petrovski is headed to the New York Rangers camp main camp, he's a much better player then Steen, bigger and more skilled. Jordan is the toughest player on the back end and while he's only about 5'11, hes an absolute prick to play against. He went from a heathy scratch early in the year to playing with Sedley. Jordan Hill didn't move him up to that paring because he bought him a coffee, he moved him up there because he was effective there.

Steen wasn't the same after the Erie game where he was jumped. Maybe Im a bit of an old school guy sometimes, but I would have liked to see him fight back a bit in that scrum. I get he was jumped, but he just lied there, covered up and didn't defend himself at all. He had a chance to go at Kulakov to get revenge later in the year and didn't even try. He's not Mark Woolley.

Since then he has not played with much intensity or engagement, he was very timid, watched his teammates get punched, didn't really step in. Maybe that changes this year, but I don't see it, love to be wrong thou. Its too bad, he's got a ton of potential.

I think he starts on the third pair with Rogers and hopefully he gets his game back.

I don't disagree with any of that. He started last year pretty well I thought, showed some sandpaper and then as you said, lost it after coming back from injury. He's had multiple concussions the past two seasons and I think that's played a major role in his game. If he doesn't really engage in front of the net or along the wall it becomes too easy to play against him as he tends to become overly passive. Hopefully he can come in recharged after a healthy offseason and start off on the right path. He definitely has the tools to be a good OHL Dman.

LOL, I love your professional assessment! Seriously I totally get your reference and it's an admirable trait for sure. Should be a really solid year in OS looking forward to the tilts with our Knights, hopefully we can keep up. The guts your team showed in last year's playoffs considering the mess of the roster was special imo. What do you all think about your coach? Thought he struggled a bit in the playoffs but again he was missing so much of his skill on the bench perhaps tough to cast judgement?

Even at the draft party Dale was very high on Nansi and Prud'homme and expects them to eventually be players that can have an impact.

Surprised he's back would likely be a common answer on the coach. He's likely on thin ice to start the season, especially after the new assistant coach they hired who has extensive coaching experience, including head coaching experience at the major junior level. Expectations are high this year and he likely doesn't survive a slow start in my opinion.

That aside, I think the roster going into this season is likely better equipped to play the way Walters would like.

There's a a reason Dale drafted Smith.

He's apparently Mr. Nasty.
I hope he puts it on the nameplate of the warm up jersey lol. I really liked that they let the players choose their nameplates last year and hopefully that continues this year.

I think the organization has done a much better job in the draft in recent years. They could have as many as 6 07s sign this year alone. I think they have every right to be excited about their draft class. Should be really fascinating to see what shakes out in camp next week.

03 class
Goure, Burroughs, Lawrence, Sedley all made the Attack and Hislop turned into an OHL player

04 class
Guindon, Bryant, Steen, Bonaiuto, Okitundu, Votary, Fantino and Jordan all made the Attack

05 class
Barlow, Uens, Chafe and Brennan all made the Attack while Morey and Young turned into OHL players

06 class
Cormier, Rogers, Tersigni, and George have all made the Attack

07 class
Addy, Crawford and Smith have already committed with Nansi and Prud'homme likely to as well. Koprowski should be a player as well eventually.
