Yes there was more to it

Waddick steps in as our #3 goal scorer
Ahh well out of respect to the rules of these boards, won't pry or speculate further, just hope it works out well for Gavin.

Waddick is a slick pickup for sure and adding that kind of goal scoring pedigree is great. I'm not upset at the return at all. Might help take some of the heat off of Barlow.

Seems like a sneaky good pick up actually. I'm a Bryant fan but unfortunately for him he's struggled with injury the past two seasons. Waddick is a year younger and can put the puck in the net.

If I'm not mistaken, Waddick was also the player that knocked out Sawyer's teeth and Teddy tried to climb into the penalty box to get after him last year. That might make for an interesting intro to the team lol.

I think the trade was much better than I had expected if it went down. I think that's a very solid move for the Attack.

Think you meant to say Waddick is a year older an 03,while Bryant is an 04.

With this trade means Owen Sound needs to trade 2 of Burroughs, Lawrence,Waddick, Goure and dman Sedley to get to 3 OAS.
Whom are dealt

Waddick is an 05. Bryant an 04 birth. Do still have to clear an OA at some point to get down to 3 from 4 though.

I’m not sure who you are talking about, but Declan Waddick was born in 2005 lol

Little bit from Brock Otten on Waddick.

48. Declan Waddick - Wing - Niagara IceDogs
Waddick is similar to Marco Mignosa in the Soo. He's a high end processor but he needs to get quicker/stronger to be a more consistent offensive contributor. As an undersized forward, the lack of quickness is going to be a major concern for NHL scouts. It's no fluke that he scored 28 goals this year though. Great scoring instincts and a quick release. I'd take a wait and see approach here to see how everything develops moving forward.

The new goaliecoach is also GM of St Thomas Stars.
I wonder if the Attack will place a few B carded players there ?
Interesting as the St Thomas Stars is an affiliate of the Knights. Always thought it was clever of the Knights as players like Bonk & Onuska (examples) can play with the Stars but they practice as much as possible all year long with the Knights. They also work with the London Nationals in the same way. St Thomas is a 20 minute drive to the Budwieser so it's very convenient.

Doesn't appear as though Dean Letourneau has made a commitment to a team/league for the 23/24 season as of yet. He did attend USHL camp with the Sioux Falls team but I can't find anything about any sort of commitment. GOJHL website now lists him as 6'7" and 209lbs. It's extremely unlikely the Attack can get him but he didn't attend rookie camp last year either so there's still a feint glimmer of hope. He's the giant white whale still out there lol.

If Prud'homme was considering the NCAA at the time of the Futures Watch video it makes sense why Dale was talking about wanting him in Owen Sound and signed as soon as possible. Does bring some clarity to the forward group now though with Nansi as the clear front runner for an A card.

Dean LeTourneau didn't attend rookie camp last year as his private school was holding a camp or tournament and would not release any players for OHL camps.

There was an 'event ' that shut down the camp and subsequently he did come to Owen Sound and scrimmage with the main camp.

I definitely remembered there were some circumstances to him and I believe Luc Warner coming late last year. I'm not ready in my mind yet to let the possibility go until main camp comes and goes without him showing up lol. A man has to dream right? That's just one of those fish that got away. He came to camp last year and they couldn't quite reel him in. Gave the fanbase a little taste leaving us wanting more lol. I just know how big of a get that would be, especially when we don't have a lot of assets to augment the roster later in the year. I still like the idea of Dale and company taking swings on questionable players and certainly the 9th round is a good place to do it. I was a big fan of the Isaac Howard pick even though he never came. You have to buy tickets if you ever want a chance to win the lottery.

I totally agree back in the Plater Days we drafted because they were guaranteed to show up and it drove me nuts with some players we passed on. The Attack have done an amazing job with making O.S a place players want to come. If players exercise there NCAA options I have no problem with that everyone has to decide whats best for them. I'm happy with taking chances on players especially a little later and selling O.S to them. Last season I had the pleasure of chatting with Brady Martin's(3rd overall to the Soo)mom. We were in his top 3 places he would of liked to come to. His mom was very impressed with Dale and with our program here so I say take some chances and let the process run it's course we will lose some but we will win some. I think Nico Addy may have been a bit of a gamble and I think we won there.

Well said. I'll never judge a kid for choosing to go to school. It's their future and they have every right to choose what's best for them. I think Dale and the Attack organization have done well in making Owen Sound a desirable place to play and at least having a chance to lure those lottery tickets once in awhile.

You will enjoy watching Declan when he is on but he will go missing for several games in a row. Consistency is a problem and he is soft. If he gets stronger and less afraid of the heavy going, he could be a star in the league.

I think he should fit in fine. He's not going to have to be the top guy as Owen Sound has a pretty good forward group. They also project to have a larger roster this season which will hopefully make the smaller players a little more comfortable.

I hoped he would come but wasn't certain he would. It'll be interesting to see how he stacks up with the other blueliners in camp.
Luddington is an interesting pickup for the team. He's an older blue-liner then others so this doesn't give him a whole lot of time to impress. But on the other hand he's listed in the camp rosters so I would imagine he would have his opportunity to crack the lineup.

Sometimes you get late bloomers who may have missed their chance at 16 or 17 and Luddington might be one who falls into the category but until the team gets a look at what he can really do in camp it's a nothing ventured nothing gained sort of a deal.

He's an October born 05 so hasn't turned 18 as of yet. He would certainly fit the late bloomer mold. There's already 7 D rostered so likely only a depth role available at the moment but not a lot of obvious candidates for the role. If the team elects to add an 8th D, which given the injury history I think they likely should, Luddinton would seem to be heavily in the mix.

I think the names to watch on defense are:
06 Sam Ethier
06 Zach Major(who didn't attend camp last year or play hockey due to injury but was noted by DeGray in Greg Cowan's piece)
05 Izayah Luddington

Two notable FAs that stand out to me:
06 Max Dirracolo
06 Jack Paquette
