I do not like his playmaking abilities.
He's also a puck-hog. I have question about his hockey sense.
He's skating around hey look at me mom! with the puck and dosen't develop play enough. Hesitant.

They should morph him dragon ball Z style with Mesar to create 1 excellent sure-fire top6 players.
Many of his weakness are Mesar strong-point somehow.
Exactly a month ago today. :dunno:

I remember talking about what we hoped to see from Beck in the post season.
He obviously didn't put up Suzuki like numbers but he did play very much as expected over-all.

How I look at it is that Beck is a piece of the puzzle that we need. As one of the biggest Suzuki supporters here (He is a first line center, fight me);

Suzuki is not as physical as Beck. Suzuki wouldn't win 79+% of his faceoffs either. We will appreciate Beck for what he does well when the time comes. The faceoffs alone will increase our pick possession numbers even if he is on a lower line. It also can get you out of a dangerous defensive zone faceoffs in key moments. I don't expect him to ever get as many points as Suzuki. I am happy we have both. We really need both types of players to win.

I still think he’s a 3C in the NHL, but an indispensable one. Like Staal is for Carolina. The great shot is what’s going to open up offensive chances for him and he’s so good in all three zones and faceoffs.

Like in Penguins too. Jordan Staal type of impact in 3C for Habs, would be perfect with Suzuki and Dach top C's!

I asked ChatGPT to make the list, and of course, there were errors lol -- Alexandre Vincent ... never played for the Moncton Wildcats. Updated list, but possibly with errors!

Anyway, many forwards who won went on to have good careers. Goalies are not predictable from this list, and short players who won don't necessarily go anywhere. But players of Beck's size seem to go on to have good careers. Take it for what it is worth.

Hmm I was sure Suzuki was named MVP when they won the memorial cup..?
Suzuki was dominant the entire post season. Beck had his ups and his downs and was never supposed to dominate the score sheet.
His value was always going to be in the details. I watched his entire post season and usually it was his line setting the tone for Saginaw.

Even if he's a Malhotra regen I'll take it.

Disappointing, but at least it'll solidify our 4th line for the next 10 years.

Dominant is underselling it. 42 points is just stupid. Including a 3-0 series comeback against the Knights. In those 4 straight wins he had 11 points. Then it was followed by a 3-1 series comeback against Saginaw. 6 points in those 3 straight wins. It was the very definition of putting the team on his back.

Snake Boisvert saying his ceiling is 4C😂

I would give equal shot at 2C and 4C with the higher odds of Beck becoming a solid 3C. He is a true type center who has great skating/size/weight to his game at an early age. Plays the game the right way and that should be well suited for when he turns pro next year. Probably needs 1 or 2 AHL seasons but time will tell.

The thing with Owen Beck is that it's easy to say that he will be a 3rd or 4th liner only, but the truth is, he has the tools to be one hell of a hockey player....whatever line he plays on. I hate limiting this type of player.

Yup, could turn into a Bergeron type but then could be a 3C type (Poehling type with a brain haha). He does have potential and it all comes down to how obsessive he is to improve. His 1st pro season this year will tell us a lot.
