Hopefully not. Yanic Perreault was a poor defensive player. His only value in the defensive zone was his likelihood of winning a faceoff.
Agreed but Beck has superior skating which would alleviate defensive issues. No one was more reliable for the Habs than Perreault for crucial face offs

Until he lost the crucial Game 4 faceoff against the Canes in the 2002 playoffs. It’s nice when a player has that skill set, but it has severe limitations.

I think Beck will be the kind of center that if/when Suzuki and/or Dach are unable to play due to injury, we'll be happy he's the one who can move up the line-up.

I also say whether Dach or Suzuki are unable to play, but we know it will be Dach and not Suzuki who will miss games. I believe Suzuki is third currently in the league in consecutive games played.

Despite that, I believe we'll be happy we have Beck who can move up instead of relying on Dvorak. And I am a fan of Evans, but I'd be more comfortable with Beck being bumped up the line-up because I think Beck will be able to provide more offense while not sacrificing his defensive game.

Memory has been fuzzy lately, but wasn't that Lindsay ? I seem to recall Therrien leaving Perreault on the bench.

Yes, Lindsay lost the draw in OT

Juneau went 1-1 in the last 2 draws before Erik Cole tied it last minute

Blowing a 3 goal playoff lead at home in a 3rd period in 2002 :shakehead

Cowan is playing for London tonight, but Beck isn't playing for Peterborough.

So he's either sitting out because of that shoulder injury at the WJC, or he's sitting out because he's about to be traded.

Which killed that team. We were on a roll until then. Zednik getting also though. He was playing like Guy Lafleur circa 1979

I'm thinking I already like Stephens limited as he is better than Dvorak.
I can't see me not liking Beck even more he being the better player.

We were clamoring for a trade before the season even started I can't think of a better outcome.
Mem Cup guaranteed!
Now win that spot outright and let the bride's maids become the second OHL team. :naughty:
I'm hoping it's the springboard that will catapult Beck into our starting lineup!
