Some folks were saying the Petes coach sucked so this is good news I guess?

Petes have the worst offense in the OHL. They're last in Goals For with 104. Saginaw is 6th in the league with 146 (3 goals behind North Battalion and the 5th best offense).

Saginaw is also 3rd in goals against.

So he's off to a good offensive team, but also one of the best defensive ones.

We were clamoring for a trade before the season even started I can't think of a better outcome.
Mem Cup guaranteed!
Now win that spot outright and let the bride's maids become the second OHL team. :naughty:
I'm hoping it's the springboard that will catapult Beck into our starting lineup!
You want him to go from the OHL to the NHL?

I'm as high on Beck as the next guy, but I really doubt that happens. I also don't think it SHOULD happen. Give him time.

Was Beck on his game for Canada during the World Jr's ?
The games I watched, which was only two games, he did not seem like an important cog to the coach?

Any thoughts guys...

He wasn't relied upon offensively, even when played with Poitras and rephkof for one game.

He was good defensively, good energy and compete level. Not much to show offensively.

He'll make the jump easily.
Ramage and the development team are super high on Beck..He's better than Evans and he's better than Dvorak. and he's sure as shit better than Mitchell Stephens. His game is all about details not scoring so there is no pressure starting him on a 4th line. If he has a good post season doing the things we drafted him for he can make the jump like Suzuki did.

Well if you watched Canada's last game you would understand that our two goals both came after monster shifts by Owen Beck. His line pinned Czechia in their own end while we were able to get fresh legs on the ice as we kept possession throughout. Owen Beck will be a details player similar to Lehkonen only he plays center and wins face offs.

Pretty low bars to be fair.

I get what you're saying, but I'd rather he played in the AHL for a year or two and try to make his offense translate to a middle-6 C instead of making him battle it out on a 4th line 6 minutes a night.

Right. Beck gonna need a good full season or two at AHL level. Habs still have Dvorak and Evans + Suzuki and Dach (even Monahan) to fill the first two spots.

With his combination of speed, shot and intensity of play, Beck has much more offensive potential than many here are giving him.
I see him as our forward Unicorn potential player just as I see Xheraj as our Unicorn potential D man.

How is Beck a unicorn????? I think we are becoming a little too cavalier with that word.

He is a straight down the middle blue collar, two way center. He almost certainly will not be a big point producer but has some potential to flirt with 50+ points in his best years imo. Most likely he is a 30-45 point 3rd line shut down center for the bulk of his career.

Nope, said possibility. I see him as a 3C with upside.

Both Xhekaj are the unicorns in our system. Both with late growth that ended at 6'3-6'4 that are having very high play growth curves and that have rare combinations of talents and physical abilities.

Right now, Beck is pretty much just following what was expected of him. Great defensively and on FO, good offensively.

You are right. Both brothers have glimmers of those skill sets not often found in big , tough, good skating guys. Imagine Flo with a good NHL wrist shot ? Or Wifi cruising at high speed toward the other teams net like a great white ?

Haha before this draft video, we barely ever read that term in here. Now unicorn is about to burn down villages.

Beck 3 points tonight. His first game with Saginaw. Parekh 2 goals. He's going be star
That’s encouraging. When he got traded from Mississauga to Peterborough, it took him a while to get going IIRC. Let’s hope he can keep it up as he’s a quality prospect.

He got an assist on the PP and 2 assists on Misa goals. He directly set up one.

So ….. Danault! I’d take that in a heartbeat again
