It takes at least three lines to win in the NHL today. Beck is more than that. He'll kill penalties, play 4 on 4, overtime and against other team's best lines. His presence will raise the team's speed median. What more can you expect from a second round draft choice?
Everything you say is spot on. I am just clamoring for a dominant player. If we are lucky Beck will be better than Jake Evans.

I was at the Saginaw game dec 6th in niagara.. Beck is exactly what they are lacking to make a run to the memorial cup.
They are basically handing the team to Beck to lead.. if this is not a confidence boost, it sure will see Beck start to rack more points..

Parekh is also a Defender (offensive puck mover) that should be available for Habs to select with our 1st.. incredibly smart, sound player..
Misa didnt have a great night, and yet still got 3A and 3rd star..
The scouts in my organization are quite high on Parekh. Think that he may go top 10. I’m not as high on him.

Beck is faster, plays a heavier game and has a much, much better shot. They are not the same players.

How would you compare him to Chipchura?
Back in the day, we were saying similar things about him. (pre-injury)
Chipchura was a bigger/lankier player who was better regarded for his leadership qualities than his on ice skills. As with attempts to compare him with Evans, Beck presents as a much different player.

One of the great underestimations of Beck’s skills is his shot. As I have noted, he is one the growingly rare players who can score off the rush. Most goals today in the NHL are scored from 6 feet from the net or by players who are largely stationary. I have seen Beck score at least half a dozen goals by shooting a snap shot at the top of the circle at high speeds off the rush. His shot overpowers OHL level goalies.

On the Petes’ rather mundane power play, Beck plays the half boards and when given the opportunity, uses his one-timer to create scoring chances. Regrettably, the Petes lack the players who can find and feed Beck. That won’t be the case in a few years when Hutson and Mailloux are manning the points on Montreal’s power plays.

Chipchura had limited offensive skills and while he played physically, his game lacked the snap and intensity that Beck brings to the ice. Playing with superior players will allow Beck’s game to evolve where he becomes the proverbial 200 foot player. The type of player that every team looks for and needs.

You're correct. Nothing in hockey, nor life itself, is guaranteed. But I feel confident that Beck will have a greater impact in the NHL than most of our current heralded prospects.
Any chance he can develop into a 2nd line center?

Before he was traded to Peterborough, it looked like a possibility. He looked really impressive offensively.

From my viewings which aren’t extensive by any means I don’t think it’s impossible. On a Cup contender specifically, he doesn’t quite check all my boxes but it’s probably his very uppermost ceiling and that could be a bit of a stretch. Hard to say.

Like @ChesterNimitz says, his shot off the rush is special. I said it earlier, it’s that of a top 15 pick imo. I think if injuries happen he can slot in your top 6 and do well.

Short answer, awesome 3rd line C who can affect the game in many ways with offensive abilities that could be top 6 worthy. His faceoffs too have been absurd this year so far. They looked positively gaudy in many games.

Great prospect.

You and WTK have mentioned his shot. I'm skeptical about his offense, but I trust you and WTK's judgement when it comes to prospects, so I am slightly more optimistic.

Is Beck a player that gets a lot of puck touches or does he mostly play away from the puck? Just asking because a guy like Danault was able to produce points at the nhl because he frequently had the puck in transition or off the cycle, which coverted to points. I wonder if Beck would be a point producer in a similar fashion.

With any prospect it's always about progress or the lack of so only time will tell. I think if given the chance to develop his offensive game, he can certainly show more but I have wanted to see him work on his accuracy. He does like to handle the puck with speed.

It would be more like trying to compare Dvorak to Chipchura, as Beck is on the light side whereas Chipchura had more of the frame of Poehling, thick but without the high end speed/skating that Beck has. Chipchura was an excellent AHLer and a solid 4th liner in the AHL despite his injuries. I would hope Beck will be at worst a little bit better then Chipchura who I was a big fan of due to the way he played. I happen to like Beck a lot as well for similar reasons.

Everything you say is spot on. I am just clamoring for a dominant player. If we are lucky Beck will be better than Jake Evans.

I would expect him to be better then Evans, and I think he wouldn't be too far off from him in the next year or two but for now he needs to add mass, strength and work on that shot more.

Yes I would say so, I don't expect that but posters often act like they know what a prospect will turn into but it's so hard to know when a player will peak or stop progressing. You just have to go from year to year and see how it goes. If Beck can show impressive progress over the next 3-4 years then there's no telling how good he could really be.

Of course he's much more likely to be a bottom 6 center as I am not expecting him to put up 50-60 pts in say 4 years or so but you never really know as guys surprise at camp and next thing you know people are saying where did that come from. Most of the time of course it goes the other way though.

No he will easily step in as 1C. And I predict Misa will be shifted to the wing.
Misa, though listed as a center, has played at wing the entire time in Saginaw outside of a handful of games during the WJC when players were away. He'll be right at home on Beck's left side. Probably will see Misa shift to center next year in his draft year.

Somehow I thought Keane played C too early in his career... but I'm probably on crack?

Also Keane is probably still playing in the AHL we should sign him to mentor the kid (haha)
Mike Keane works for the Jets organization since 2013 as a development coach. He's from Winnipeg, so I doubt he wants to leave the place.
