Now watch them turn into our version of the "kid line" or "triplets" from Tampa back in the mid 2010s.I would include Farrell!
Palat - Johnson - Kucherov
Farrell - Beck - Roy

Jarvis had decent hands. He was 20 goal scorer. Many don't realize it because he known for his defence. Roy reminds of former Hab Sundstrom. Kind of smooth like him. Smart, 20 goals, can play both ends of rinkHey go big or stay home, lol.
I so remember people being very bullish about Suzuki and Caufield playing badly coming out of the WJC and Poehling being the standout. Case in point, this is just a tournament.
I agree 100% if Beck & Roy have comparable careers, we will have a dominant shut down line.Jarvis had decent hands. He was 20 goal scorer. Many don't realize it because he known for his defence. Beck plays a pro style game. Team Canada played a freelance game. Styles didn't really mesh, but his line was by far the best defensively and wore down defenses with a heavy forecheck. That's going to be his style of game.
Beck is going to be a Danault type forward. Danault played 2 full AHL seasons before making the NHL. I think Beck will play one AHL season, but he could make the team next year.
I think he'd make a great two-way scoring winger too if we can't fit him at center. He has a nice arsenal of shots & is solid along the boards.
Eventually, I think he & Roy would make a pretty good duo.
Last year I said that I would see a Heineman - Beck - Roy future perfect 3rd line.
I would not be surprised if one of these will develop into a solid top 6 player aswell!
I always like a good shut down 4th line. I think they are underrated.I agree 100% if Beck & Roy have comparable careers, we will have a dominant shut down line.
I’m hoping Roy can be a top six player. Lack of speed will limit him but he’s smart and has great hands. One issue would be the lack of size.. but I've always liked the idea of Farrell-Beck-Roy
He needs to be as smart and opportunistic as Toffoli.I’m hoping Roy can be a top six player. Lack of speed will limit him but he’s smart and has great hands.
Beck was best faceoff guy in WJC. He's going to go on to long NHL career. A be a good bottom 6 center. A solid 2nd round pick.
Not much offence at 33OA, he will need to be a very superior IMPACTFUL defensive player to justify the draft pick ranking. Not Dvorak level, not Evans level, not deLaRose level, but Danault/Carbonneau/Plekanec like level defensively (with what probably seems like less offence).
I'm not asking for Danault-Carbonneau-Plekanec overall level. I'm sayhing a 33OàA has to be standout good defensively if he won't score more than Evans for example, which is what I project. You can find Dvorak/Evans level players on the trader market, waiver market, late round draft market. So a 2nd round pick (where even late firsts are rarely NHLers, let alone productive NHLers) has to be one of the best defensive forwards of his time, in order to justify being taken in the 2nd round?
I think you might want to recalibrate your expectations.
That's like saying Lamoureux has to be Chara to justify being taken in round 1.
If we can get a Beck in 2nd round. It's a solid move. Nothing to do with justifying it. With his combination of speed, shot and intensity of play, Beck has much more offensive potential than many here are giving him.I'm not asking for Danault-Carbonneau-Plekanec overall level. If the Habs picked Beck 33rd overall it's because they projected some offence from him. If there is 15 goals in him, then he can be the next Dvorak and be worth a 33OA.
OK, but for example, Beck is 28th in the OHL in ppg in his 19 yo season, whereas Danault was 10th in his 19 yo season in the Q.With his combination of speed, shot and intensity of play, Beck has much more offensive potential than many here are giving him.
I find that Power Play statistics are somewhat misleading as they are materially influenced by the players you play with.OK, but for example, Beck is 28th in the OHL in ppg in his 19 yo season, whereas Danault was 10th in his 19 yo season in the Q.
Carbonneau was 3rd in the Q in his 19 yo season.
I don't think Beck projects as a 3rd liner. He is more like a fourth liner, like Evans with better faceoff skills.

. He will have to improve, but over the past few years he hasn't he's stayed the same. There's definitely 15 goals in him.. he has a very good shot. He has a lot of very good offensive tools that will project well down the middle at the 3rd center spot along with his smarts, skating, face-off game and already matured defensive game.
His production is going to take off again when he gets traded now that the WJCs are over.
