On pace for 99 pts.

Back in the top 6 bandwagon.

Beck has a skill set (speed, shot, face-off prowess and physical play) that will allow him to be a valuable player for the Canadiens in the near future.

We should all be pumped.
I still expect that Beck will grow through a more timid period as he first gets to the NHL, before beginning to have an impact with the team.

During his lone game last year with the Habs, I didn't find him very impressive.

I, however, don't think that the emergency call-up is indicative of what he will be once he is in the NHL full-time.

He's an NHL'er no doubt about it.
I'd love him to stick with the team as early as next year, even if he starts off as 4th line C until he zones in on the NHL tempo/pace.

With the Petes, Beck had no one who could feed him the puck on the power play. In Saginaw, he's playing with the talented Zayne Parekh. Parekh, who will probably be drafted in the top 10 at the upcoming draft, has the skill to find Beck and set the puck up on a tee for him. I suspect that Beck will score a lot of goals on the Saginaw power play before this season is over. It will also provide a preview of what Beck can do with Hutson running Montreal's power play in a couple of years.

I also suspect, that with Beck now playing with superior talent and producing offensively, the endless chatter about Beck being added as a 'throw-in' in the myriad of trade fantasies that one reads here will come to an abrupt end.

I expect beck to be superior to Evans and, even, Dvorak, a real two-way, shutdown C with second line upside.

If Beck is used as a F/O guy in O/T, like Evans, given his speed and his shot, he won't need to come off after taking the draw.

He can alsotakeF/Os on the PP (getting the puck early is important) and be a shooting option with his wrist shot.

Caufield - Beck - Slafkovsky (net presence)

Hutson - Suzuki

Now...it won't be like that every game....lol, Spitfires is the worst team in the league in goals against. But...Beck still crushed his teamates.

Anyway, was there really people giving up on him? You see the skill set and you know it's going to translate. Maybe not in top 6...but in insanely reliable 3rd C.

We'll obviously see how he does once he gets to the NHL. But I believe that Beck as a 3C having to step up to be a 2C if one of Suzuki or Dach (most likely) gets hurt.

No disrespect to Evans and Dvorak, but I will feel better knowing Beck is someone who can step in to be a 2C.

As much as I appreciate Evans, if the Habs ever want to become a contender they have to upgrade from Jake Evans. I am still trying to figure out why MSL used him so much in OT.

Faceoffs and he couldn't win them or get the puck back so he got stuck on the ice.

MSL has the centers takes their favorable faceoff side 90% of the time.

I can see him being a similar type of guy to Mike Fisher. Strong defensively, wins faceoffs, kills penalties and can put up 40 or so points.

The only thing Beck needs to improve would be his off-ice game as Fisher definitely has done well for himself.

Well that's a pretty impressive first game with his new team! Looking forward to more strong performances, but I won't expect 6 pts every game haha.

I've been trying to think of a current NHL comparable and Chandler Stephenson is a guy that comes to mind.

Well if he keeps wearing his cowboy hat maybe mikey will get him a wife in nashville next visit..

I see Beck as a true #3C to start his career, and after 5-6 seasons rising to a #2C a la Kadri

Fisher could never shoot a puck like Beck can.

I see Beck being a mix of Danault and Mike Fisher
