Beck had a pretty good first game with the Steelheads last night. He didn't pick up any points but was strong in all zones on every shift, and generated chances throughout the night. Coach Richmond relied on him heavily as he took 28 of the teams 63 faceoffs (45% of the teams faceoffs), and went 18/28.

Beck doesn't wear a letter but he is definitely a leader on this team. At one point during a stoppage on a goal review, he called the five guys on the ice over to the bench and asked the coach for the coaching clipboard. He then led an extended discussion, pointing to the clipboard while everyone listened intently. The coach did not get involved in the discussion, he let Beck run this.

Steelheads beat Erie 3-2 in a shootout. They were outshot and outchanced but had better goaltending in this penalty filled game. Del Bel Belluz (44th overall in '22 to Columbus) and Hardie (undrafted overager) scored the regulation time and shootout goals.

Do you really think I wanted you to look it up? That was an expression that meant that guys that will do what you are saying are a minority. And then some. To every rule though there are exceptions.

Yet...Patch? Point per game Patch? I've seen the guy play. Every game. On the wings of Palushaj and Porter. Line was dominating. But I have no idea how relevant Palushaj stats are....that's not my point.

My point isn't that a top scorer in Juniors will be a top scorer in the NHL. How dumb would I be to think that? My point is that to be a top end player in the NHL you most likely than not need to be a top end producer in juniors.

True. Good example. But even if you'd give it much thought, it's not the majority.
um... maybe you forgot what you wrote initially?

this is the post you made that I replied to:
At one point though, and as I said before it's understandable, but he will have to rack the points. No matter the role you play in the NHL, D+1 rack points in juniors.

"no matter the role you play in the NHL"... is a very different comment than "a top end player in the NHL you most likely..."

so, perhaps you didn't mean what you wrote initially? fair enough.

If your point all along is that "top end" NHL players are typically top end producers in juniors (especially when they are sent back to juniors for D+1 season, vs making the nhl right away)... well, sure... thanks captain obvious lol

Ok so yes and no. Clearly by debating Beck, I'm pretty sure our expectations right now isn't to see him center a 4th line. Not even sure if at this point, we'd see him centering a 3rd line and call it a success. But let say we do....most players that will and were picked as high as Beck was, will just rack up the points. At the very least upgrade it for the year before. And most of them significantly upgrade it.

Then you call it captain obvious....yet you brought Pacioretty and Weber examples or top end NHL'ers that to your liking didn't have top notch seasons....not sure why it was that obvious...
