When you rush players they naturally are forced to skip Development steps. What killed Mete also is that he kinda never got better...

yeah I forgot to mention him in the 'things you're wrong about thread' hahaha. God I thought he was gonna be a 2nd pairing guy for sure. Hell I thought he was in the 2nd season. Mea culpaMete got me good. I remember telling my Calgary friend how awesome he is going to be
Or he just peaked early and this was his actual ceiling...When you rush players they naturally are forced to skip Development steps.
By the same token, were Bergeron or ROR rushed? When you rush players they naturally are forced to skip Development steps.
I was answering the reason why Mete never improved. 4th rounders in the NHL at 18 makes no sense and it hurt Mete. He had alot to learn. Beck may be different although I don't think he is ready.By the same token, were Bergeron or ROR rushed?
Not saying Beck will be as good as those guys but we have more than enough competent brain power and experience in management to make that determination.
We need to trust the process. They’re not burning a kid just for the hell of it and they won’t proceed on any decision without due diligence. This is not the prior administration — they’ve built a contingent using a vast array of resources, which
Well, there is what we think as outside observers without the benefit of all the data and expertise management relies upon and the thorough evaluative process that will beget a final determination.I was answering the reason why Mete never improved. 4th rounders in the NHL at 18 makes no sense and it hurt Mete. At least, I’m comfortable that any decision taken will have gone through a thorough evaluation.
We do know bargain bin was a clown. He derailed a few young careers.Well, there is what we think as outside observers without the benefit of all the data and expertise management relies upon and the thorough evaluative process that will beget a final determination.
We also don’t know what other player moves they have in mind prior to announcing final cuts. We shall see.
I’m with you on Mete. He was rushed but it’s also the case of a player with limited upside that was made to play outside his comfort zone. It was a lose-lose proposition.
Wow...Congrats kid.
Gonna be fun watching him progress into next camp.Returned to his junior team after the game. The kid leaves a great impression.
I had Owen Beck 16th on my list. For me this counts as a steal for the Habs.
Wouldn't it be better to get the same player later? Duh.
Owen Beck is actually a better defensive player than Shane Wright. He reads the play just as well but he is significantly stronger and wins his battles all over the ice with remarkable ease and consistency. A good comparable is Anthony Cirelli.
I'd add Mesar honestly. He's looked great too and didn't look outta place at allI wanted Wright, but habs walked away with Slafkovsky + Dach and Beck which eases my (C) fears
I would't be surpise if they give him a chance to make the team next year. Monahan won't be here and not sure Dvorak will be here too.Gonna be fun watching him progress into next camp.

This Beck thing has 100% accelerated the Dvo trade situation
I actually like Dvo but Beck has a chance to be waaay better
And I can totally see him make the team next year at 19, he and Evan's interchanging 3C/4C all year long
This year will be the sad year to watch. Next year we will have Slaf after a year in the AHL, potentially a top 5 pick, Beck, and a slew of young Dmen with another year of experience vying for a spot on the team like Xhejak, Barron, Mailloux. That will be exciting. Not to derail this thread about other players but got’damn imagine that C lineup with Suzy and Dach potentially taking another step this year
PLUS we are assuming we get a top-5 pick this year, maybe throw a little Leo Carlsson in there. Damn.
Super pumped to see Beck in the OHL and at the WJC this year
