You think the future of the franchise is better with a very highly paid forward who has showed piss poor effort and clearly doesn't want to be there? Mantha never really reached the level that was expected of him either.Caps have traded Mantha and close friend Kuznetsov. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS THE GOALS RACE AND NOT THE FUTURE OF THE FRANCHISE.

So they traded a perennial problem child in Kuznetsov and freed up $3.9 million dollars in Cap space.Caps have traded Mantha and close friend Kuznetsov. ALL THEY CARE ABOUT IS THE GOALS RACE AND NOT THE FUTURE OF THE FRANCHISE.
He was being super sarcastic haha he was mocking everyone who claims Washington is mortgaging the future to try to chase Ovi's goalsSo they traded a perennial problem child in Kuznetsov and freed up $3.9 million dollars in Cap space.
They dealt Mantha who's only good year for the Caps was this contract year and they were unlikely to resign this off season.
They saved money and got picks back for both of them. They restocked their very depleted pool of draft picks for the next three years.
They retained a very cap friendly and performing goalie in Lindgren and 4th line center in Dowd,
But, yeah, sure. They obviously don't care about "THE FUTURE OF THE FRANCHISE".

You gotta do the upper case and lower case letters like in the spongebob meme.I'm not sure my post could have been more clearly sarcastic.
It is kind of wild that we had two players join the league at the same time, playing for two rival franchises, and they’ve both had these long incredible careers. I remember people complaining about the league pushing the Crosby/Ovechkin thing so much, but in the end we very well could see two players that are top 10 players of all time. Crosby with multiple cups, and Ovechkin potentially breaking a Wayne Gretzky record (a big one) and a cup of his own.He needs to end the year well and then get two more seasons of 25 goals. At this point, I would say the chances he passes Gretzky are at around 80%.
With two more years, he should also be able to insert himself in the TOP 10 ALL-TIME for points, right behind Crosby!

Both of their cup winning days are over, I can’t see either player leaving their team, and looks like they’re both clearly not going to be cup contenders (I say this as a Caps fan). In the end I think the Crosby/Ovechkin era has surpassed even the leagues dreams.
Yeah, honestly I had been dreading the dark ages for a while, but one positive of all the issues with Backstrom and Oshie and Kuzy is that a lot of young players have gotten more opportunities and have been performing well. Obviously you can’t just replace players like Ovechkin and Backstrom, but there’s a lot of younger players in the system that are exciting. I think Washington also just has a pretty good reputation with players, so I think they’ll be able to do well with free agents in the near future. At least the Caps have some decent-to-good prospects (Lapierre, Leonard, Cristall). They might still surround Ovy with some talent before it's all done.
I also think Carberry being a younger coach who all guys seem to like playing for as well will also be another positive for UFAs looking to sign with the Caps.Yeah, honestly I had been dreading the dark ages for a while, but one positive of all the issues with Backstrom and Oshie and Kuzy is that a lot of young players have gotten more opportunities and have been performing well. Yeah, I’d say it’s not that the future looks “bright” but it definitely doesn’t look “worst team in the league” like some people have speculated.I also think Carberry being a younger coach who all guys seem to like playing for as well will also be another positive for UFAs looking to sign with the Caps.

The irony of a thread about goal scoring that has turned into assists.
It's going to be a very long 2 years with a new record of posts in a thread.
4723 and counting.
Given his usage versus his production it's broke. And a third of all these posts were you telling everybody how useless and washed-up Ovechkin was.
Oooops!
People should know by now, Russian Machine never breaks.
