be curious to see how they pull that off... 8-10 players to sign with about 27M$ in cap space. If they retain Meier, that leaves them under 20M$ with 7-9 players, add Helley and that's 13M$ for 7-9 players... and their D could use something more than a league minimum addition.

+, doubt Helleybuck signs for anything less than the 6M$ he's at right now, and his new contract would coincide with Mercer's extension, which will be in the 6-8M$ range at least assuming he repeats his previous season, let alone makes more progress.

you'd think a Helleybuck addition means Meier is gonzo... perhaps even to WPG in the deal :dunno:

Helleybuyck apparently wants Vasi's money (around $9.5m aav).

sounds about right...

i think he and the team that gets him may quickly end up in buyer's remorse unless he signs with a team that has a wealth of ELC/RFA talent that won't be costing cap premiums for first 3-5 years of his extension.

With Barrasso and Vernon making the HOF - Carey Price is a lock.
Probably, he was higher on the best goalie list in his era than they were in their era. Barrasso and Vernon won the cup though, plus they were part of teams that were on top of the league for a decent while. It's always hard to really tell what gets factored in.

No doubt in my mind Price & Weber make HOF simply because it’s the Hockey Hall of Fame and not NHL HOF - achievements in junior, AHL, WJC, Olympics matter..

No goalie in the history of the game can match the level of achievement from youth hockey to pros, every step of the way that Price has for pedigree

WTF tabarnak, Vernon wasn't even the best former Flame netminder eligible.

Would be great to see Winnipeg get Meier with an extension for Helly.

Lindholm could be on the move if he doesn't sign an extension. Hanifin definitely isn't signing an extension so he will be on the market at some point does Conroy do something before the season or wait closer to trade deadline.

Man the NHL is so f***ing boring, seriously can you make some f***ing trades GM's. Bunch of ass wipes
Half the teams don't have cap space, the other half are probably asking for king ransoms to absorb bad contracts. So nobody is moving.

It's also extension season and teams are still trying to sign their RFAs/UFAs they want to keep. Those will get traded next week/over the summer if that can't happen.

Winnipeg & Calgary are getting their teeth kicked in with players bailing on those organizations.

I know, but I just feel like this league is becoming more and more bla.. I think new blood is also needed in higher management, enough with the recycled dinosaurs
