No, there's more to it than just that

'Anybody' lucky enough can be a champion (carried by superstars sure)

But NOT 'anybody' can be a Hall of Famer

It's ludicrous Tkachuk is not a HoFer, and there is NO doubt Price should be one too

There's luck in sport but nevertheless it's a great achievement. You should not get in the HOF for winning a cup but if someone has other attributes then a cup is a big addition to go in.

I can't recall a year both conferences were so weak. There's maybe three contenders across the whole league. I'd guess there will be quite the arms race at the deadline. I would guess the flat cap prevented a lot of teams from plugging holes which creates more parity.

I didn't realize that Nylander was hitting UFA this year. He would be a good target for Hughes.

Will be 28 to start next year. Will get an 8 year contract which will bring him to 35.

So you have to ask yourself how good he'll be for the first 4 years (28-31) and the last 4 years (32-35), and is it worth giving him 10M + per year for all 8 of those years.

One of the worst contract ever. 8 more years at 10.5m and already 30. Look worse than last year, he's bad defensively, can't even produce decent number anymore and he's not getting any younger.
and a few on here want to trade for him. he's worse than any of habs cap anchors

Nylander is really pricing himself out of Toronto. 3 points already might get 100+ this year

7 years, not 8.

Leafs defense and goaltending is so bad.

Took the Leafs in survivor tonight. One of the last still standing.

Not looking like a great decision

I hope he goes UFA next summer, MTL should be all over it!

I think 7 years at say, 11.5 million/year, is fine. These are prime years and UFA years, and the cap is expected to go up substantially in this period. In the latter half of the contract Price, Armia, Gallagher, Dvorak, Savard, Allen will no longer be on the books.

Nylander is also what the Hans are most missing -- an elite offensive forward.

Imagine if the Habs added Nylander, Hutson, Reinbacher, Celebrini, and Roy next year.

After Nylander came back from his hold out and he had just signed a 7M deal and was struggling, I said we should trade Shea Weber for him. You should have seen the backlash I got.
