He allegedly refused to meet with ARI and WSH’s scout allegedly didn’t like his vibe. That was the extent of the “narrative”.

The Habs could’ve picked him even if didn’t want to be picked (there is zero indication of this), hell, the Habs should’ve done a better job seducing him! The job is to improve the team ffs. Are we supposed to believe a teenager bullied the Habs organization into taking a B option?

Haha to be honest, McCagg is a hack, I don't take anything he says seriously, even when his opinion aligns with my own. That said, Nikishin was very clear about how he felt disrespected and questioned Michkovs character, nothing alleged about his thoughts there. The rest was well reported and aligned with Michkovs agent saying he didn't want to play in Washington or Arizona. I wouldn't call it bullying and I'm not privy to what goes on behind the scenes of an NHL management team. However, I could see how these kinds of things add up and influence decisions. In any case, it sucks as he's just as good as advertised.

That’s what I find most frustrating. How can the fans be right but the people in charge being paid millions to make these decisions get it wrong? It’s inexcusable.

I wanted Mich. Was Upset when we didn’t take him. But RB has a good profile that’s completely different.

Nope - NHL is the ultimate team game, as McDavid’s dominant in season & playoff performances have shown.

Unless Michkov is cherry picking waiting for a breakaway pass while his team is clogged up in the Dzone… which BTW he’s racked up at least 3G thus far doing which I’ve watched

It's obvious management was blind to how tough it would be on Reinbacher though, he's forever going to be the guy they picked instead of Michkov.

It's obvious management was blind to how tough it would be on Reinbacher though, he's forever going to be the guy they picked instead of Michkov.

Reinbacher doesn’t deserve that comparison and scrutiny but I’ll be damned if I’ll allow compassion for him get in the way of criticizing the arrogant Habs organization for f***ing up the rebuild.

Michkov the rookie is outproducing Slafkovsky who has had a 50m contract handed to him off a 50pt season. We are one Demibust away from rebuilding the rebuild. Patience patience everything is okay, we have erm Owen Beck Michael Hage coming in a few years.

I agree, although I must give credit to MM (whom I had #2 overall on my list), he's having an impact way sooner than I expected. Thought his skating and lack of defensive engagement would hold him back a bit at least.

Still think Reinbacher can be a key piece for us, but he'll always be in Michkov's shadow for some people. A 22-25 minutes 40-50 points RD would still be incredibly valuable though, especially in the playoffs. We're really far from that right now though, really sucks he's out that long.

You’re describing the highest end version of Reinbacher. This is a guy who had a bad/injured D+1 and a very bad injury in his D+2. It’ll be extremely lucky if he makes it to that height now.

I get it and passing on Michkov doesn’t look good right now but you conveniently forget that 90% of his board was clamouring for Wright.

Literally the worst case scenario happened with Michkov coming over after only 1 year and being as good as advertised while Reinbacher had a bad D+1 and will miss his entire D+2 season.

However, it's understandable why management at the time thought a top 4 RD was a better building block than a small winger with a ton of question marks. Everyone should get that.
