Well he was talking about nightmare scenarios!
Watch Babcock go to some random team nobody is talking about.
A TSN interview with Babcock and Holland side-by-side:

According to Babcock he will make a decision in the next few days (from about 7:30 on in the clip), which would seemingly rule out teams that still have a coach like Boston.
That gives me the impression that Babcock will stay in Detroit, honestly.
He should. Every team mentioned is a project with zero guarantees it's going to work out.
Plus I don't even think Shero is back in the country yet. So unless Lou is doing the lifting here it's doubtful Shero even bothered.
My main point is we could sell a future to this guy. It's different from Buffalo but you sell we are still a defend factory with a top 5 goalie. Great cap situation to fix the forwards.

From what I gathered in that piece, Babcock and Holland are also at the World Championships so it's conceivable they could have talked with Shero there.
Just an Eklund rumor we're in the running
seems like all signs point back to Detroit, doesn't it?
I mean he wasn't exactly talking like a guy prepared to leave....but by the same token this is going to look like much ado about nothing if he does stay after all the speculation and the whole 'FA window' where he talked to other teams.
Devils resign Salvador for 3 yrs, $10 million with an NMC, trade Severson and 6th overall for Kessel.
Would just mean it was about the money and squeezing every dime out of Detroit he could.
Yeah it is possible this is just Babcock pulling an Elias from 2006...I guess we'll find out soon enough judging by his timetable (and the Wings supposedly put a deadline on it too, cause they want the compensation if he's going to leave).
